I would take credit for having spotted this, but you can't take credit for something that everyone with two eyes and a functioning brain can readily see.
Very well said, Reverend. You know, there were rumors floating around some time ago about "easter eggs" imbedded in the film. Well, who needs "easter eggs" when, in reality, the entire story can be seen as a sort of gay propaganda that they managed to smuggle in right underneath the Executive Producer's nose?

I am really quite thrilled by this accomplishment. Maybe it was a sop to gay and bisexual men like Young Smoot. Maybe it was done knowingly. Some of my gay friends are really into Joseph Smith. I imagine there probably is an erotic element to the whole thing. All of those guys in Christianity getting frothy over Jesus, especially the hyper-masculine Jesus of the Far Right. You know, fascist aesthetics, they say, are quite homoerotic.

In any case, there is nothing here to begrudge our male gay friends who have a Jones for Joe. No doubt some of the devotion to him back in the day had that aspect to it. Some of those guys made miserable polygamists with unhappy wives, and we can guess why. They would rather have been with Joseph. Who knows but that Joseph was fluid enough sexually, confident enough, to oblige them?

The canonical Smith teachings against homosexuality are curiously absent for a Church that makes such a big deal about being straight.

Ha! Perhaps!

From page 35 of Manuscript History of Brigham Young is Brigham's dream of Joesph.

While sick and asleep about noonday of the 17th inst., I dreamed that I went to see Joseph. He looked perfectly natural, sitting with his feet on the lower round of his chair. I took hold of his right hand and kissed him many times, and said to him: "Why is it that we cannot be together as we used to be? You have been from us a long time, and we want your society and I do not like to be separated from you."

Joseph rising from his chair and looking at me with his usual earnest, expressive and pleasing countenance replied, "It is all right."

I said, "I do not like to be away from you."

Joseph said, "It is all right; we cannot be together yet; we shall be by and by; but you will have to do without me a while, and then we shall be together again."

Don’t forget BY would force men to cuddle with him in bed when he came around to visit.

And that, of course, brings us to the Number 1 Top Happening in Mopologetics for 2021. As you can probably guess, that item is:

1. Witnesses is a Box Office Bomb
I believe you, I had no idea there was a Witnesses movie in theaters.

I am wondering how Shulem's discovery of the geographic location for the Book of Mormon did not make the list.

No worries. Discovering the missing snout out of the lead plate didn't make it either.
I hope your contributions can be recognized by the Mormon History Association, and possibly be awarded one of their prizes. Let's hope they can pan for gold in the right location.

Stand firm and do not let him cuddle you without your express consent.

It does my heart good after nearly eleven years in the Cambodian jungles disproving Coggins' fantasies about the Vietcong to still see my dear Professor publishing regularly. I promise to get that last paper turned in just as soon as I get to a better wifi connection. It warms my heart to see from the Christmas card that was waiting for me in Poipet (with a much needed bottle of sherry) that little Abigail makes lucky number seven in the Scratch nest. <3
