Are you suggesting that doctrine decays and fades away if not referenced in general conference? And that 10 years is enough time to consider it no longer to be doctrine, even if it is still in current teaching materials?doubtingthomas wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:17 pmI am not sure what you mean, but the last time a worldwide flood is referenced in general conference was in 2011. Of course Mormon leaders don't have the balls to take a stand.

You have to report that your church doesn't have an official position on child marriage and that you believe Joseph Smith didn't do anything wrong for marrying prepubescent children. The average age of the onset of puberty in girls was 16.6 years in the 19th century.

Please don’t be stupid, DT. Here’s the quote:doubtingthomas wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:49 pmBallard wasn't talking about a worldwide flood, or more specifically about a literal global and worldwide event. So it seems the last time a worldwide flood is implied in general conference was in 2011.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 4:12 pm
2020, Shall We Not Go On in So Great a Cause?! M. Russell Ballard mentions “the flood”. 2011, Dare to Stand Alone! Thomas S. Monson stated, “… when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood.”
I used this search tool: https://www.LDS-general-conference.org/

Thank you for LDS-general-conference search tool. I can now see the 2010s is the decade when "Noah" is least mentioned in general conference. What a coincidence!
And Mormon leaders are using the Book of Mormon more compared to the past, so some of the 2010s mentions to "Noah" refer to King Noah.
What flood do you think BY and by extension RMB was referencing? The footnotes to the side indicate they’re talking about the commonly accepted doctrine that it was a global flood. How you don’t get that is either willfully ignorant or deceptive. Which is it?Of the Smith family, Brigham Young said: “The Lord had his eye upon [Joseph Smith], and upon his father, and upon his father’s father, and upon their progenitors clear back to Abraham, and from Abraham to the flood, from the flood to Enoch and from Enoch to Adam. He has watched that family and that blood as it has circulated from its fountain to the birth of that man. [Joseph Smith] was foreordained in eternity.

Ballard was simply talking about Smith and the Smith family. He wasn't talking about what Young believed about the flood. Just use your brain for a moment.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:49 pmPlease don’t be stupid, DT. Here’s the quote:

But even if I grant you that Ballard was promoting a literal global flood; that still wouldn't disprove my theory that some LDS leaders are slowly moving away from it.If you take a closer look the 2010s was the decade when Noah's flood is least mentioned, and by far.

Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels
No one is arguing the cult is or isn’t moving away from the doctrine. What’s being argued is that the doctrine of a global flood is still a doctrine, and as you can see RMB references, in a recent talk, the flood as known by BY and others to be the flood. It’s not considered by the cult to be some localized event. Unless the cult just comes right out and declares the global flood to be undoctrinal it’s still a doctrine.

It seems Doc isn't doing well. He thinks I am being deceptive.

I don't really care if the Global Flood is doctrine or not. But I do wonder, if BYU professors and apologists are teaching apostasy for saying that the global flood isn't doctrine, then why aren't they being disciplined by the church? Mormons leaders are obviously aware what the apologists are saying. You are too naïve to think they are not. Mormon leaders don't seem to think the global flood is important.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 6:04 pmIt’s not considered by the cult to be some localized event. Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels
What makes you think I’m unaware of the cult’s relationship with its apologetic wing? And who cares if you, or anyone for that matter, thinks the flood is important or not. That’s not what’s being discussed. The flood, a global flood, full of symbolism as underscored by Mormon scriptures and hundreds of talks, articles, and teachings found in teaching manuals, makes it clear that a universal flood is LDS doctrine. And Ballard wasn't talking Young's view on the flood. Ballard was simply talking about Smith and the Smith family.
