If a poster is put in queue, which moderator will get to read all the posts and decide?

I may want to be queued.

I've only seen it in practice but any poster on queue would have posts submitted for approval that any mod has access to, not unlike reports. We generally operate under a "first that is willing and able, gets it" kind of mindset.

Your recollection matches mine. There were specific reasons for placing each in "the queue," and I don't recall Shades basing any of those decisions on UR 8.

Bach was queued for his volume of personal attacks. That could also be interpreted as a type of UR 8 violation.

I can point you to a mod thread about his situation if you haven’t already located it.
It could, but I don’t recall Shades basing his decision on UR 8. I may need to refresh my recollection, but I’m not recalling Bach s being a high volume poster.

That’s the way it was done the last time I was a mod.

Oh for goodness sakes you guys. with regard to UV Rule 8...if the MF carried over to this board, look back as far as you can and look for someone named Seattle Ghost Writer and then look for the discussion about ME. Those two situations were primarily why the rule was made and/or expanded.

Then look for whatever discussion took place re: ldsfaqs as well. That particular discussion took place PUBLICLY in Paradise and then I am sure Shades and EA mulled it all over in the MF before he was queued.

This feels like a ton of pussy footing around. And that stuff about Shades dilemma. LOOK. Shades has been administering this board for well over a decade. He should be able to size up the situation since it's gone on for months now and make a decision in short order.

As I see it, the elephant in the room is Shades' public silence on the matter.

Bach was restricted/queued more for the volume of personal attacks that he perpetrated than any other reason (not that there weren’t others). That volume from him honestly pales in comparison to what we’ve seen as of late on the board by particular members.

A barrage of personal attacks can be interpreted as a form of UR 8 violation, but I’m not sure that’s even the point. For anyone who has ever been queued or ‘kingdom restricted’ in some way, their behavior has not necessarily been a tidy and explicit violation of a particular rule. Many of those cases represented the first of their kind, which means that there was no precedent. Waiting for a precedent as a reason to enact a particular solution cannot always work because something must always become the future precedent at a moment when none exists … yet action is still warranted at that moment.

Reviewing old cases via mod threads, I’m not finding anything yet that was previously acted on that was more severe than what has happened as of late, with one possible exception (at least my own opinion is that there is one exception).

I’ll post the link to the thread about bach in a mod forum thread.

wow. That's saying a lot.

I'm glad the old mod threads are available for you guys, i'm sure that's helpful, given Shades' 'clone' requirement. :D

Why do the moderators avoid discussing the so-called elephant in the room?'

And the follow-up question,

If the biggest troll on the forum is a moderator who trolls the other so-called trolls, why would anyone, including the mods, ever expect there to be less trolling, and not more?

Leading up to the selection of moderators it sorta seemed like Shades maybe didn't want as much trolling. He seemed more like he wanted less bitching and moaning about trolling but was rather indifferent about the trolling, since there was not a rule about trolling.

Since the moderator selection was done, I get the impression that this place has greenlighted the trolling and wants it to be bigger and badder and better. I mean goddamn, it takes a special kind of superpower to think that the the so-called trolls are the problem, but that the moderator who trolls the trolls is the solution. That is some silly ass sillyass right there.

Interesting points. The Seattle GhostWriter thing was before my time, but I've read a bit about it.
