Why not just surrender to the fact that this forum has rules and choose to stay within them? Why not respond with balanced responses instead of the extreme responses you’ve been choosing? Why not stop being dickish?

In my opinion, this question can be asked with a bit more nuance or detail. For example, I would look at what one is responding to and offer this scenario.

Did you wear your swastika armband when you spread COVID to vote in-person for Trump, or did you fold it into a mushroom head onto your Glock and go orifice to orifice with it?

Technically, there is nothing reportable in this question. It has panache. The moderators are not going to do anything with that and everyone knows it. But, even if it was reportable and one had confidence that it would be moved, it remains on the board and the extreme insult is there for everyone to see.

So, in my case, which I can address as the subject of your question, I would likely tell the person to “F” off. Why? Because one can never appease these manipulative dicks and assholes enough. It is insane to submit to that sort of aggression and expect different conditions going forward. Most people will just leave the board or not join if they are lurking. Some people will jump in because they like having a bully or aggressor like that on their side.

Unfortunately, the example I gave is not even a tiny bit of an exaggeration of the level of insults and presupposition that is played on this forum. All of that factors into the conditions for participation. If we do not agree that my example is relevant as an expression of the conditions on this forum, we really do have an issue, and you should consider banning me and everyone else that is not okay with that level of vitriol.

I would move that to Prison. The "cleverness" exception to the personal attack rule used to be part of the rule itself, as listed in the board rules. It did exist for a long time. I thought its absence from the current rules meant that it no longer applied. I have asked for clarification, as in my opinion it injects way too much subjectivity into the exercise of drawing lines that are difficult to draw in the first place.

But, if I understand you correctly, moving the post to Prison would not fix the problem for you because the post would still be on the board in Prison. So, rather than reporting the post and asking it to be moved to Prison, you respond in a manner that deliberately violates the rules, requiring someone on the mod team to move at least your post to Prison. If the original post did not violate the rules, then what you end up with is the original post in place and your objection to it in Prison. Or if both violate the rules, both posts are in Prison. But the post to which you objected is still there. So what has your deliberate rule breaking accomplished.

So, you've been carrying out thermonuclear war on the "conditions" set by "manipulative dicks and assholes." So, 100% seriously, how's that working out for you? If your example is intended to be representative of posts here, I'd say you've accomplished the opposite of what you set out to do. If anything, your posting here has increased the level of manipulative dickishness and assholery.

I think your example is at the extreme edge of behavior that is exhibited here from time to time. But part of the "conditions" here are that people can talk to each other in an extremely aggressive way as long as they do that in the right kingdom. That's pretty much a non-negotiable condition here. If you choose to respond with a level of vitriol that violates the rules, then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where that ends.

I’m not willing to go beyond the mods are discussing the issue. I think we’re free to express our own opinions, but I’m reluctant to try and describe what anyone else is thinking. When we huddle on an issue, I find myself changing my mind in response to the discussions.

Shades also reads the board, including the mod board, and can act at any time. Just reading our mod board discussions he can get a pretty good sense of what we’re thinking.
