In order to receive an answer through prayer you have to have faith. Apparently it's not important to you and the narrow neck seems to be a mystery for you because you've not expressed your belief or where it is located. Hence, it's a mystery for you. I KNOW that the narrow neck in which Joseph used for his story is at Delmarva. I'm sure, and, yes, it's my truth. I appreciate the friendly dialogue. But it's disappointing that you won't stretch yourself on this matter and enquire of the Lord. But oh well.
I won't press you further.
Question: In what ways does your Delmarva theory diverge from Brandley’s?
Question: In what ways does your Delmarva theory diverge from Brandley’s?
In what *WAY*?
The hill Cumorah is some 250 miles north of the Delmarva narrow neck as the crow flies. Mormon, Moroni, and the Nephite armies fought the last war *IN* New York State.
Without going through everything you’ve posted it would seem to appear that...
read the thread, mental gymnast. Read the thread.
I think that I’ll leave it to Shulem to delineate how his theory either branches off or directly parallels Brandley’s. Truth be told, if Shulem is basically regurgitating Brandley’s theory in regards to the narrow neck, etc., then it might be important to look at what the critical response is.
Surely you don’t think there would be a critical response here?
Except to say “read the thread”. I did read parts of the thread, but not the whole thing. I probably will not go back and read the whole thing. If Brandley and Shulem are promoting pretty much the same thing, why would I? There are other “narrow neck” theories out there. I linked to one of them. Shulem tossed it off because it came from an apologist.
It looks like Brandley may have beat Shulem to the punch.
But of course if you start off with the presupposition that the Book of Mormon as fiction I suppose it’s a different ball game, right?
I start off by testifying INTHENAMEOFJOSEPHSMITH that the prophet (1st elder of the Church) and the Assistant President who was Oliver Cowdery (2nd elder of the Church) bore witness to all the saints that the bones of the Nephites surrounding Cumorah in New York State will rise again in the resurrection. Elder Cowdery was authorized by President Smith to pray through the power of the Spirit to bless the land and invoke faith in the resurrection.
Cumorah at New York State was the last battle ground in which we read about in Smith's novel.
I think that your theory is going to have a hard time taking off with believers in the Book of Mormon. Your audience is somewhere else. But you’ve already pretty much owned up to that, so that’s good.
I will gladly introduce these things to ALL the Mormons and the more that fall away, the merrier. Why do believers have a hard time believing that Cumorah in New York is the hill in which the Nephites fought their last battle and that the land of Nephi is Delmarva? The only reason that comes to mind is that they have a problem knowing there is no archeological evidence at Delmarva. They need that to prove their faith, not disprove it.
MG will simply limp along in faith in the ignorance...I can only imagine what he's going through knowing what he knows about the geography. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.
At this point I’m not shaking in my boots.
I do think Shulem should have given attribution to Brandley over at NephiCode in his ORIGINAL post back on the other thread, however.
You will not find the Book of Mormon geography described anywhere more accurately than at Delmarva.
And from your source:
Brandley makes a startling and extremely unjustified comment, saying: “This small neck of land can only refer to the Isthmus of Panama, and the land northward in this verse is North America, and the land southward is South America.
Read the thread, mentalgymnast. Your potshots at Shulem's research are laughable.

I'm afraid that I will have to agree, Marcus. MG needs to educate himself and read the thread and embrace the evidences. I represent JOSEPH SMITH in the world today when it comes to Book of Mormon geography. Yes, I represent the prophet and he stands behind me in these declarations that I've made. I do it with power and conviction knowing full well that nobody can refute the truth.
Had you read J. Theodore Brandley before your Delmarva Theory came into being? What concerns do you have with the criticisms of his work?
Where do you diverge from him?
Location, location, location. The land of Nephi and the narrow neck are at Delmarva. Joseph Smith's Zarahemla and Bountiful were on the peninsula of Delmarva.
