I have to agree here. It is high time that we take care of this problem if we still want to have a board. As someone who has been here since not long after the founding of the original board, and as someone who has seen its ups and downs over the years since, I want to see this board survive as a community. If what we see happening now is going to result in the takeover of this board by clowns who have suddenly arrived to troll the community, then we simply must put a stop to it.

I think it is high time to face the fact that we are a community, not an experiment in free thought and free speech. If the sudden arrival of obnoxious Trump-loving fools is destroying the community, and we value that community, then let's just admit that someone's individual freedom to be obnoxious is just not worth the cost.

If you don't change your approach, you are one of the targets, or don't you grasp that. I entirely agree with Kishkumen, and we don't need your input about it. I promise, not because I am more important, but because I am one of the good parts of this community, if I leave, they damn sure aren't going to be happy letting you stay unchanged. Yes, I say we are not an experiment in free thought and free speech because, at the end of the day, most adults realize that free thought and free speech are never completely unfettered. Only people stunted in adolescence imagine otherwise. Human community is about finding belonging and learning to get along with others. Oh please !!! The screen name TINFOILHAT is actually my wife’s account and she has never posted under it, only I have! When I convinced her to open it she was going to post but didn’t, not because of me, but because of idiots like Doc Cam and Schmo!!! Same with one of the guys I text with at mddb! He actually has an account here but has never used it, well, I think he’s used it once or twice maybe, can't remember, but he won’t join in because of the vicious insults hurled at conservatives!!! It cracks me up that you think this board is welcoming to outsiders!! It’s the exact opposite and today you’ve explained perfectly why it’s not welcoming! There ARE academic message boards that will NOT just let anyone say anything because.....free speech. They have standards and they simply take a post off that is off topic or trolling and tell the poster why they took it off. If the poster violates this three times they are simply kicked off, period. I think respecting community more than free total chaotic disruption speech is vastly more important. Sure difference are allowed, but not the kind we are allowing, not in any manner. And those boards have amazing amounts of discussion and learning. We can make this one that way, but it takes some discipline. IF AM would participate then it would be fine. But he has proven he is not here to participate and have community and share ideas, even when disagreeing. That is the crux of it. At least that it appears to me to be the issue. And AM ***KNOWS*** this and refuses to change, hence, his excommunication needs to occur.
