I was permanently banned for at least 2 years, if not 3 years. Before I returned I made an agreement with you. I have kept my agreement with you and acted in good faith towards you and this community. Of that I am sure. I have a copy of said agreement and since my second coming, I have referred to it many times.
Right now, I don't believe that you are acting not in good faith towards this community. You say you were exhausted. I don't know if you are working long hours, are sick, dead, or dying, moving literal mountains or what. I accept that you were exhausted.
When I and another participant were banned, the two mods involved didn't think twice about doing it. They no doubt felt that something needed to stop so they stopped it. You were wrong about me then and I wasn't wrong when I said I had lost perspective. Here goes. I never planned to ever bring this up again, but I do so to point out a pattern here and damn it, I'm angry. Cam's apparent departure here (whether voluntary or involuntary) is the last straw for me.
I had gotten an email group mailing that I believe originated with LDSToronto telling us that Darrick was making direct threats on DCP and was going to show up at his work place. I got that mailing, you got that mailing, as many of us did. To this day, I don't know who shared my email address. Darrick (who was likely off his meds at the time) started making increasingly threatening posts on this board--"blood must be shed! " A majority of posters up in Terrestrial and Telestial spoke up in protest of those threats. EA was the only moderator present during those moments and he would do nothing. He said he needed you to make the decision. We continued to protest.
I ended up taking matters into my own hands and contacted the webhost to see if what Darrick was doing was against TOS for the board. My thought at the time was to simply stop Darrick. I assumed that if his conduct were against TOS that the webhost would suspend the board until a dispute was settled. I contacted you via PM's to tell you upfront what I did.
I never ONCE tried to destroy this board, Shades. What I tried to do, albeit sloppily, was to SAVE the freaking board because, in my mind, had Darrick made good on this threats here and the threats he made that were shared in that email, YOU might have been held liable for aiding him.
But you weren't here. harmony suspended me. EA suspended Darrick. In my view, you ended up taking your crap out on me without so much as a hearing, popped me out of here forever and all time and I went without protest. It was only years later when I explained that what triggered my response in contacting thew webhost was on account of the sudden violent and bloody death of a family member in real life, in real time, the PTSD associated with it, and I didn't want to see anyone from this board, much less DCP himself be harmed. My intentions were ALWAYS honorable and good.
You, for whatever reasons, have not been here much lately. I doubt that you have a full grip on what is the reality that this board has become. You good mod team's hands are obviously, and once more, tied. They need and/or want your approval for certain things and we all know it. The acceptance of rampant trolling is a threat to this board. This community deserves better. We all deserve better. That's why people blew the place up here. Our posts are our only method of expressing ourselves. And boy, did people express themselves in the form of an all out uprising.
What you could have done last night, even in your state of exhaustion, was to suspend the account in question and leave it on hold until you had time to sort it out, knowing that you could undo the suspension any time you wanted to.
But you didn't do that, Shades. When you look in on the board today you will see exactly what I see. The board has exploded in a fury of anger and opposition. People are breaking the rules left and right. Why? Because they are frustrated and have gone Lord of the Flies on account of it. Not unlike the Darrick situation.
Your mods and your posters have acted in good faith towards you. Indeed, some here have contributed money for this new board. I tell you the hard truth, Shades. Right now, you are not acting in good faith towards all of us or your moderators. If that is a hard pill to swallow, then you'll just have to swallow it.
Cam is gone. I don't know where he is. He's gone right in the middle of the war in Ukraine where all of us can benefit from his rich military experience and knowledge. I can't tell you how ANGRY that makes me because I'm not here to “F” around. I am here mainly to try to learn and understand things that I can't learn and understand by myself (not that I don't hang, too.) and now one of my best resources for all things military is GONE. And I like him. He is a valued member of this community. He is our FRIEND. And he's GONE. He is a combat veteran. In his last post he was seen cussing you and the mods out, though not canpakes. What is he supposed to engage in written combat just to get a word in edgewise between all the troll B.S. for something such as free speech that he himself defended in real time? Are you joking?
I propose once again, let Gad be your second in command if he is willing. I have seen Gad at work as a moderator on a board that was difficult to manage. When you are out of pocket so to speak, it is not okay to leave your mod team in the lurches. It's not okay to leave this board in the lurches because things happen quickly as you can clearly see what apparently happened overnight and earlier today. It's another mess for the mods to clean up.
See if Gad is willing to do this. If he is not willing to do this, I am. But I don't think you want me to and I don't know why you wouldn't because I have always been supportive of this board and this community and yet, I don't get the feeling that you want me to lead here. I'd do it in NY minute if you wanted me to. But Gad is good. He can do it. He's decisive and fair. I trust him implicitly and have trusted him for two decades. I know this guy.
This post might read as a mess in and of itself. I don't know. Here it is anyway. If this seems all over the place it's only because I am angry about all of this and I guess my breaking point was Cam not being here.

Are you sure Doc is gone for good? Did he make some kind of announcement? Because people take leaves of absences from here all the time, sometimes for weeks or months.
Having said that, I tried to get some old posters back here again. Just recently I invited Maklelan, Steelhead, Tarski and Jason Bourne to come back but they won't because of how it has deteriorated over time. Steelhead took one look at the number of posts from Mike and basically said hell no. He even registered as Yakasteelhead but won't participate after reading some of AM's stupidity. He read enough and said he may be waterdog or subgenius.
