Would you like to discuss any of the issues your raised in this or are you just needing to vent?

Aside to all:

You know what? People get on Ajax's case on a daily basis around here for his ignorance, bigotry, stereotyping and hatred, yet no one openly challenges a post like that except me and Weaps who has her own style of approach.

When I offer even a mild challenge, know what I get? Oh I wasn't talking about you Jersey. Well hell yes, he is talking about me when he makes a non-specific pile of believers and attacks us. US.

That is one of the least intellectually honest posts I've seen around here lately and that includes those authored by Ajax. It is littered with ignorance, hatred, and bigotry, and yet, hardly anyone calls him out on it.

Earth to you guys: There are a number of posters on this board whom people think are atheists but who are actually God believers. You are surrounded by us. They are people you participate in exchange with every day. I have no idea why they don't respond to a post like this but that is their choice. Furthermore, many or most of you live with and love believers. Why do you let an unrighteous bigoted tirade like that pass?

I've got to finish what I am doing here in real life and then I'll come back and reply to the post.

Guilty as charged, although I hadn't seen Schmo's last post until today.

I’m not sure who “you guys” are specifically, but I’ll take a crack at the accusation above.

1) I just saw SS’s post because this thread was bumped to the top of the queue so I decided to click on it.

2) SS’s post was quoted (I hadn’t read his original screed).

3) I agree with SS’s post now that I read it.

You generally don’t get too involved in deconstructions of your faith, so why would anyone on this board know what line is crossed with you? in my opinion, SS is talking about xians who are along the lines of bananapants people who can’t shut the “F” up about their faith and exist in a state of existential and political terror, both of which are the same thing really. Let’s take a look at his post again:
Whenever I hear someone talking about their god, all I can think these days is, "What a damned waste of energy. You are lying to everyone, but most importantly, yourself. What are all the burdens you are carrying because you feel required to hold on to the ridiculous god belief? How much money are you wasting?"
I guarantee you who SS is talking about is the crazy politician, the tv personality, the dumb as crap co-worker, or idiot neighbor who shoehorns a discussion about Jesus and the Demonrats into a topic #not all xians. However, so what if he was? Coping with existential issues by believing in a Jewish Buddha God-Zombie is what it is. It’s patently absurd.
It's also occurred to me that living a religion is not only lying on a regular basis, but also the process of getting used to living a lie. People who are well-practiced at living their religion are well-practiced at lying to themselves and others. Lying is a lifestyle for the religious. It's hilarious how many religions teach that lying is bad when the very act of living a religion requires a lifestyle of lying. Religion is a disease that causes you to hold on to ridiculous beliefs, so lying to yourself becomes second nature. It's also a disease because once you're willing to believe outrageous religious claims, you'll believe other outrageous claims (like Trump cares about you, or anything but himself).
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this statement whatsoever. Hands down, the most deceitful people I’ve ever met are xians. Sure there are good xians, but man those ones are few and far between. Nothing about xianity, especially the Americanized conservative iterations, produces a consistent batch of honest people. Most xians are what they are behind the veneer of religiosity. And if that’s the case, xianity isn’t a transformative vehicle for the human soul, but rather a philosophical crutch and a shield against reason.
It's obvious to me that religion is for people who can't face life on life's terms. They have to lie about the reality of things to simply cope. Religion is for people who haven't grown up yet. I'm so sick of the deference paid to idiotic religion.

Instead of looking for a closed universe, consider this thought from Ken Kesey:
The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer. They think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.
The great problem of any civilization is how to rejuvenate itself without rebarbarization.

If you think it's important, you could point out what you think constitutes "ignorance, hatred, and bigotry" rather than expecting everyone else to do it.

I'll get you started: it would seem I really do hate religious ideas. Hatred is certainly the correct word for how I feel about religious beliefs. No doubt about it. I've never seen a religion make anyone appear smarter; quite the contrary.

That should get you going.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

Here’s an example of what I believe SS and I see with regard to xians:

Dr. Cam presents A Debate about Dinosaurs

Image

AlyxxStarr jokingly Everyone knows the Devil buried dinosaur bones to throw us off. People need to quit giving atheists credit.

someguywhosgreat - The devil didn't have to bury everything he just gave a couple guys in the early 1900s sufficient reason to lie

"Wow that guy found three perfectly intact t rex's just by setting off a bunch of dynamite in the desert, no you can see those bones because they are too fragile, but here are some player casts, it's totally legit" - this is what atheists actually believe smh

travam1 - Don't forget that they likely just found megafauna and other non dinosaur ancient creatures and just called them dinosaurs, everyone knows nothing from the triassic period to the crustaceous period ever happened.

what_is_humor - Meds

someguywhosgreat - Atheists need them, I agree

dxfifa - God made the dinosaurs and killed them when he realised man was more interesting. If you don't believe in dinosaurs you're missing one of the few things ridiculous enough to only be by intelligent design

kraftbarbequesauce - They're not. Democrats aren't making them cool in their propaganda anymore either.

Crazy_Crayfish_ - You guys gotta get more creative I mean

they were like… lizards! But… but… BIG! REALLY BIG! What do you mean that doesn’t make sense??? Look at these bones I totally found in the ground!!!

Who would actually fall for this

Warack - Sadly as a young man, I did, and converted to atheism but when I got older I was shown that dinosaur bones are the product of NWO doctrine funded by George Soros.

WellIlikeme - Well I mean we found a bunch of really old bones and just kind of rolled with it

Two things:

Christianity does not have to deny dinosaurs.

Has anyone actually seen dinosaur bones? I haven’t, nor has anyone I know, and I’m starting to think it’s a government conspiracy.

————————————————————————

The sheer level of BS we have to suffer through and act like it’s something we have to respect is Herculean. That retarded conversation you see above, and its endless variations, is repeated over and over and over again and again and again from coast to coast and to trailer park all the way to the White House and Supreme Court.

We’re damned sick of it, and sick of making excuses for the mongoloids who can’t shut the “F” up about their delusions and end up infusing their insanity into the law, culture, academia, etc.

Jesus isn’t real. God isn’t real. The Bible, which is both Jewish and Christian lore, is a fabrication and mythos.

And it’d be real damned nice if “those” xians would “F” right off with their stupidities and keep that crap out of our public lives. “F”. Even that’s too big of an ask for “them” and we’ll have to deal with their psychosis forEVER. It sucks.

Yep. In a nutshell.

It would be fine if people believed their thing and kept it to themselves, but they are ridiculously confident in their unsubstantiated beliefs and try to foist them on others. Until that stops, I will continue to speak against the BS that is religion.

Or they post their bigoted stereotyping reliant tirades on message boards.
