KevinSim, with regard to my earlier question
canpakes wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 11:33 pmThat sounds like you could end up believing in a number of Gods (capital G).KevinSim wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 11:15 pmWell, Canpakes, I'm a Latter-day Saint, so the only qualifications I make about the concept of one god in general (who is in control of everything, and therefore I use the capital 'G'), are that said God is good, loves us, and is willing to answer questions we ask Her/Him about Herself/Himself. What are the reasons for not believing in such a deity?
What are the questions that you’ve asked Her/Him about Herself/Himself, as part of this criteria?
. . . and this reply to Jersey Girl:
Doesn’t the second comment above invalidate the first? If you’ve “made a conscious decision to believe God exists”, then this suggests that you’ve done so in the absence of evidence that can be direct confirmation of God.
Then, neither you nor I can know if ‘God is good, loves us, and is willing to answer questions we ask Her/Him about Herself/Himself’, let alone if the LDS version is ‘the one’.
My thinking here might be a bit black and white; feel free to correct me if you see it that way.
