Trump wasn't impeached for attempting to improve the economy ahead of an election (tax cuts, cough). He was impeached for trying to use the Office of the President for his own personal political advantage.

Re: Trump will lose in November, but
If it were about improving the economy Biden would have asked for a 6 month or even 1 year long wait for OPEC to stop production. But he only wanted one month, (just enough to get him past November) and then when they refused to do it for him, he promised consequences like a cut in taxpayer funded military aid. This was a clear quid pro quo. Biden was using taxpayer money to further his own temporary political position. Besides, why would Biden be about making gasoline cheaper by going to sordid regimes like Venezuela and Saudi Arabia and begging for cheap oil when the greatest threat to our national security in the minds of Democrats is climate change. If gas prices don't go higher, electric cars won't be competitive. No, it's only one reason that the Biden administration did this, for immediate political gain and they used taxpayer money to help their own political campaign in doing it. It was a quid pro quo and if Biden were a Republican congress would be spending tens of millions of dollars in a partisan impeachment effort to remove him from office.honorentheos wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:13 amTrump wasn't impeached for attempting to improve the economy ahead of an election (tax cuts, cough). And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Re: Trump will lose in November, but
That’s an interesting angle, ajax. Biden proposed spending less taxpayer money as a way to make things cheaper for taxpayers.
Seems like a sound strategy.

It was the same quid pro quo that they accused Trump of engaging in.

Nope. Reassessing the future elements of a partnership based on economic or defense cooperation isn’t the same as the sitting President demanding that another country make up political dirt on that President’s political opponents, in order to receive aid promised by Congress.

Re: Trump will lose in November, but
Not even close, and your logic is completely retarded. How do you even manage to keep score of your tennis matches? You're just not bright at all. You're wailing and moaning about Biden getting onto the Saudis for cutting production and siding with Russia is hilarious given the fact that in 2020 Trump urged the Saudis to cut production because the price of oil had hit negative territory causing US oil companies to file bankruptcy by the dozens. This was just months before the general election and the "liberal media" did a piss poor job of highlighting Trump's ongoing efforts to manipulate oil production to suit himself just prior to the election. Trump threatened Saudis with withholding military support unless they CUT production. Where was your outrage then?
Trump illegally tried to withhold military funding passed by Congress, for Ukraine unless they made an announcement about investigating the guy who was running against him. This is how terrified Trump was of Biden, that he needed to seek external help from foreign countries to smear his political opponent. What he did was impeachable and corrupt, but today's Republicans are in the business of electing child molesters and serial abortionists if it means helping the Trump cult retain power.
His claim that there was no quid pro quo because Zelensky said so is hilariously obtuse. Zelensky barely understands English and would interpret Trump's remarks in the most diplomatically safe way as possible. He wasn't about to attack the one guy who had the power to make or break the future of his country. The rest of us who understand plain English and heard the phone call conversation understands exactly what Trump was getting at. Before we give you the aid, "I need you to do me a favor."
This is the party where ajax runs away as usual, after his lame attempts tor recreate recent history get exposed. In fact, there were two (instances of Trump's quid pro quo).
Voluminous testimony and key documents released as part of House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry make clear that the Trump administration’s attempts to get Ukraine to launch investigations in exchange for something in return proceeded in two stages.
The first was the offer of a White House meeting in exchange for investigations. The Ukrainians were repeatedly told that Trump would agree to host new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a meeting if Ukraine pursued the investigations Trump wanted.
This was the focus of extensive discussion from at least June through August, with Trump administration officials pushing the Ukrainians to publicly commit to two investigations: into Burisma (the Ukrainian gas company Hunter Biden sat on the board of) and into purported Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election. But the Ukrainians did not agree.
There was also a second: The Trump administration would stop blocking hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid for Ukraine if the Ukrainians committed to those investigations.
Trump himself ordered the aid blocked back in mid-July, and he seemed to connect the general topic of military aid to investigations on his late July call with Zelensky. But it wasn’t until August that the Ukrainians learned the aid was being held up.
After that, the quid pro quo became explicit: One administration official, Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland, began telling the Ukrainians that Ukraine would only get the aid if they publicly announced those investigations. Sondland said the same thing to several of his American colleagues — and he claimed several times that this was coming from Trump himself. (Arguably, this is less a quid pro quo than extortion.)

$30.5B in profit so far this year. Just remember that when you hear a magaturd sayShell (SHEL.L) on Thursday posted a third-quarter profit of $9.45 billion, easing from the previous quarter's record high due to weaker refining and gas trading, as it announced plans to sharply boost its dividend by year end when its CEO departs.
Shell also extended its share repurchasing programme, announcing plans to buy $4 billion of stock over the next three months after completing $6 billion in the previous quarter.

So the oil companies all the sudden became greedy when the Democrats took control of all three branches of government? Why did they wait and choose to time their greed this way?Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:39 pmhttps://www.reuters.com/business/energy ... reddit.com
