Why do you keep changing the titles to your threads, DT?
For the record, changing a thread's title doesn't change the scope of the thread from the standpoint of moderation. Once the thread is started, the thread starter can broaden the scope of the thread based on what they post in the thread, but cannot narrow it. "Young men are a threat to society, says expert,"midterms," and "Replying to Doc's off topic comment." and "you should care" are still within the scope of this thread.
Thanks for the information.
Just to clarify, i was under the impression that the thread starter could never derail their own thread, and that what the OP posts carried more weight than the title.
Your post above in red seems to limit that slightly, if the OP cannot narrow the scope of the thread.
Is my new understanding (no narrowing) of that OP limitation correct?

Thanks for your perspective. I found it an odd behavior, and wanted to understand DT’s mindset with regard to his actions. He’s done this a few times, so I’m curious as to his motivations.

The “no narrowing” applies to posts after the opening post. The opening post is the main thing we refer to when figuring out the scope of the thread. Otherwise, I think your understanding is accurate.
he/him we all just have to live through it,
