Gordon probably saw their stuff and thought to himself, the kids would probably eat this up since they are speaking in that hip lingo. Let's give it a try under the time-honored FAIR brand.

Re: Is Kwaku ok?
I think I'm still convinced from others I have heard that the best is 24 hours with a 48 hour extension for 72 hours total without a court being involved. I've tried searching for sources, and it looks like https://dsamh.utah.gov/civil-commitment has forms for 24 hour emergency and a 48 hour extension. Then combining with https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title62a/Chap ... -S631.html it seems that a court order is required for anything else/longer. I can't view the actual forms at the first website since I am blocked from accessing them from the EU. Granted the court may mostly rubber stamp that, but my guess is it isn't abused a lot without consequences.Fence Sitter wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 1:52 pmFrom what I know the hold for mental issues is a 72 hour hold that can be extended by the medical personnel in charge of the patient and the patient has almost no choices in what happens during that time. It is usually automatic for someone who goes to the ER for an attempted suicide or who tells law enforcement they are considering hurting themselves. They are pretty much jails where they can force a patient to take medicines if necessary.
I don't wish them on anyone.

I am in the US and have seen this close at hand for a loved one. In my experience the 72 hours is standard before they have to get a court approval to extend, which is pretty much automatic if it is requested. Also, you have to consider that the patient needs to be evaluated. 24 hours is hardly enough time to do that even if the psychiatrist is immediately available which they usually are not. On top of that they need time to see how the patient responds to any new medication. In the two cases I know about the patient spent 7 days locked up the first time and 2 weeks the second time. The extensions were not so much abuse as they were the result of an overloaded system which took more time than necessary to evaluate and treat the patient. I do not know where Kwaku is so the laws may be different in his state.Dwight wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:52 pm

It will be interesting to see when the next Midnight (strikethrough) Mormons is posted to YouTube (actually it dropped today, and Cardon - bug boy - is solo). It is interesting to note that the show has 3 hashtags, #Mormon #LatterDaySaints and #Kwakuel, and Kwaku is not part of the broadcast.
I took a 10 minute dive down the Midnight (strikethrough) Mormons rabbit hole. Their instagram is something to behold. Most of the images are promoting the show, but then Cardon shares pics of his family at church and calls out how church is much better with a "super model" wife wearing "red sole" high heels (Christian Louboutin - $800+).
A case study into Midnight (strikethrough) Mormons would be fascinating.

It’s refreshing to know that dipstick meatheads can be LDS too.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”

ok, so i have watched the beginning of the Tartaria episode and everything is making more sense now... holy crap, stay in school kids. If you want to watch three adults, plus Cardon's wife as the shadow, discuss how there is no good explanation on why brownstones have stairs that lead up to the front door (the front door used to be window according to this crew), this is the show for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epdHXptI6Lc

Re: Is Kwaku ok?
those are all valid points, so I don't know with certainty, but the people I've heard from are talking about their experience and knowledge of Utah, and Utah laws which is where Kwaku is located. That is the reason I posted links to the Utah websites. It's very possible on a "we haven't had time to evaluate him" you could get the court to agree to give more time for the evaluation. The 24 hours doesn't include holidays and weekends, so that initial bit could already be 72+ hours depending on the timing. We also don't quite know how it started. Reading between the lines it seems he was at a hospital or similar for something and the medical professionals, with corrupt malice or not, believed he was a danger to himself or others. Kwaku has said he won't say anymore about why he ended up there, that he doesn't owe the hostile public.Fence Sitter wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 8:58 pmI am in the US and have seen this close at hand for a loved one. Kwaku is correct he does not owe anyone an explanation for his self-advertised seven day lockup at Provo Canyon mental treatment facility.
But given the fact he refuses to say what got him locked up, one may presume the reason would be less than flattering.
