Two family members were scheduled to fly out of Denver International Airport on Dec 21st on board a Southwest flight on a Merry Christmas trip back East! Got that part? Okay.
There was a delay in departure because the plane needed to be de-iced. De-icing and the delay lasted oh...5 hours. While passengers sat on the plane and if you've ever done it you know, there's no food, no restroom, no air, no heat, no joke.
When the announcement came that the flight was being cancelled, passengers started cussing out the flight attendants. Never be a flight attendant. I told my people to lay low, blend into the seat, and stay quiet.
When they deboarded, they were told they couldn't have their baggage.

Said people slept on the floor of Denver International Airport (Ever done that? I have. Only at Newark International Airport. It's miserable.) while a family member arranged a flight out the next afternoon on a different airline company. Got it?
They boarded a United Airlines flight without baggage and miraculously landed at their destination! An hour late, but still ,they got there and that's what matters, right? United Airlines did not feed them anything on a four hour flight. Fine.

There was no news about the baggage except for the occasional response....it'll be there in two days...it might take longer...your bags are at Denver International Airport...we're getting them out to your EC airport. One person asked for a supervisor. They stayed on hold for at least 30 minutes or more only to be told...we don't have any supervisors call back tomorrow.
B to the capital S.
Anyway, they had to purchase new clothing for the week and other self care things...all the things for all the festive special events, right?
The. night. before. their. departure...Southwest tells them their bags were still in Denver International Airport and no, they won't hold them. They're going straight to the EC airport and in not so many words, we don't give a rock solid damn where YOU are going, your bags are going to the East Coast.

They, the weary travelers, arrive at Denver International Airport yesterday. They've got a trip voucher from Southwest for another Southwest flight (that's questionable at this point), they have various claim forms prepared having already emailed off various online complaints. But they got home. That's what matters, right?
They're told at Denver International Airport that their bags are RIGHT there AT Denver International Airport. No, they can't have them.

Today they finally receive contact from Southwest!!! Yay!!! They know where the bags are!!! Dang, Skipppy!!! They can make arrangements to get their bags!!! Oh the relief! Oh the make up! Oh the hair styling equipment! Oh the new holiday party outfits they were going to wear for various events!! They. know. where. they. are!!

The bags are at the freaking East Coast airport.

That's right. True to their word, Southwest got those bags right to an EC airport! Isn't it wonderful? Isn't it awesome? Yup and their going to Fed Ex them any day now! All hail the geniuses at Southwest who saved the holiday-day!!!
Oh wait, no they didn't. Perhaps you have read about what Mayor Pete, I mean, Secretary Pete has called a total Southwest Meltdown. It's all over the news. I wrote this so you all could know it's really real. I mean like frfr.
Oh and one more little detail! I hugged both travelers on their arrival home!!! Of course I would!!! Hugged them when they got here and of course, hugged them when they left the house!!!
