Bolding added. What is your point with this statement? What method of "reducing violence," which you argue is increased by the "large pool of unmarried men," are you suggesting? And why the veiled threat to women? Are you suggesting the violence of lonely men will be directed toward women?

I was contributing to your topic with an article that was linked via drudge report, and giving your position ref single men a gentle nod of support. And then because this is a discussion board I added my own thoughts to the topic and how to fix young men, a problem for which you’ve been clamoring for a solution.

As far as you personally go, I think you’re screwed. I don’t know if it’s because you’re retarded or autistic or whatever, but you’re literally, and I mean literally, incapable of change, the kind of change that’ll lead you to a place where these kinds of threads are irrelevant to your fundamental being.

In a way, you remind me of ldsfaqs (Lee Universe). He was another singleton who’s relationship with the world was one of insecurity, blame shifting, othering, and projection. He was fundamentally incapable of taking responsibility for his life, his circumstances, and would never achieve the beautiful view from atop of Mt. Maslow’s Hierarchy. He’s a morbidly obese man, a death fat really, who depends on the charity of others, and has let envy and resentment consume him as easily as he consumes food so he can escape his reality for five minutes of pleasure.

You are on that path. You are on a path to loneliness, isolation, and eventual self-destruction. We’ve given you the advice and tough love you needed to hear so you can change this outcome. But I don’t believe you posses the neurons and character to change your ways, and I find that sad no matter how predictable it is. Perhaps your deterministic future is what it is, and you’ll go to your grave mewing about others. Hopefully, there are others who’ll read these exchanges and see themselves in you, and adjust fire so they can live meaningful lives.

If I were a young man in today’s scene I’d do the following:

1 - delete all social media that doesn’t directly benefit my education, career, or business

1a - lean hard into learning and becoming a master craftsman of whatever career or trade I choose

1b - lean hard into reading books on a variety of topics

2 - eat only whole foods, exercise religiously, get excellent rest

3 - develop myself spiritually and philosophically, engage in practices that encourage spiritual and philosophical growth - non-religious, by the way

3a - shoot for the Middle Way at all times

4 - develop a career that feeds into #3, or at least aligns with my character, mindset

5 - engage in hobbies that bring me into contact with others, no video games unless it’s a group thing at a place outside of my residence

6 - make a bucket list and start knocking it out

And I think that’s about it. I’d try to have fun and not worry about how the world is turning.

What a nasty stereotype Doc! The truth is more young men than ever before are eating healthier and going to the gym. The unemployment rate today is a lot better than it was ten to fifteen years ago. More young men are going to school. Look it up Doc! And there's no evidence that social media causes loneliness, correlation is not causation.

The truth is young men in their early 20s should be allowed to talk to younger women, which would increase the number of single women in their 20s.

A lot of women want to be with the top ten percent of guys, but that needs to stop.
