I need to have an outburst. So I watched all of Day 14 from yesterday. Telemetrics took up at least half of the day. Then...the forensic psychology experts begin. Watching today, Day 15, right now throughout the day as I have time. Another expert in Forensic Psychology.

We're talking vampires from Twillight, some dog from Family Guy, some other movie or television show character, saying she's going to change personalities and oh by the way her alters have movie names and crap like Jasmine from Aladdin...I CAN'T EVEN WITH THIS CHICK.

All the BS moves that she tried to get her sorry ass out of trouble is simply astounding and might I add, overwhelming to listen to. The psych stuff? It's all rookie BS moves so far. Trying to convince someone she has auditory and visual hallucinations and that she can change personalities at will. Just STOP IT.

I have a dream...that one day her attorneys give each other the go sign upon which they rise to their feet, tablets and notebooks in hand, and beat the living hell out of her right in court in full public view and then when their tablets and notebooks fall apart completely from beating her to a bloody pulp, they whip out their copy of the DSM-5 and issue the final blow which renders her unconscious, give each other the high five while guards drag what's left of her limp body out of the courtroom never to be seen again and never tell the public what became of her because not one person on the planet cares! At this point the attorneys have nothing to lose. They have no case, they've managed to be sucked into the prosecutorial crap show of the universe and if they lose their license to practice they'll think it was totally worth it just to get back at the defendant from hell for ruining their careers entirely!

And the jury and every international trial watcher would cheer them on! They'll go down as flippin' martyrs!

Here is my best recommendation for final disposal. The Martin Drake Coal Plant (which has been shut down) is not but oh 15 minutes from the courthouse. I say they drag her body out, throw it into a dump truck, drive it over to the steam plant (which is what everyone calls it), fire that sucker back up and let. her. BURN.

Oops, I thought you were talking about the defense expert. I forgot that we're still in the prosecution's case. So, all that stuff you posted was the prosecution expert's evaluate of the defense expert report?

It's the cross examination of the defense's expert that I think will be fun.

I have a ton of respect for defense attorneys. They are the people who take on the responsibility for making sure that all accused people are given their constitutional rights. Even when, as in this case, they have literally nothing to work with.

I think Stephanie was a little off target when she discussed the defense's opening statement. The lawyers can talk about the evidence that will be presented, but that aren't supposed to argue their case. The attorneys get to argue their case at the end, in closing arguments.

In this case, the crime is both so heinous and so well known that the defense has to deal with jury bias. It's pretty clear to me that the juror questionnaires indicated that some jurors were dismissive of DID as a legal defense at all. That's why the attorney told the jury that they had to leave their personal opinions at the door and not reject DID or sanity defenses based on those opinions. He was not telling the jury that they had to decide that T had DID or was legally insane at the time of the crime. This case is so horrible that there is a real risk of jurors disregarding the jury instructions on the insanity defense because they decide she is evil incarnate. Defense counsel has to push back on that. They likely did during jury selection as well.

Because the defense admits that T committed the crime, the only evidence it has to talk about is the testimony of the psychiatric experts. But that has its own landmines, especially if your expert is weak. One of the worst things one can do in an opening statement is write checks your ass can't cash. If you tell the jury that the evidence will show X and it actually doesn't, you're set up to be hammered in closing. "Counsel told you at the beginning of the trial that the defense would present evidence X. They didn't." Credibility goes bye bye.

I don't think there is any shame in losing an unwinnable case. The lawyer's primary duty is to the client, and the client gets to decide whether to go to trial or try to cut a deal. It sucks to be in that position, but it goes with the territory.

Now, the stunt that defense counsel pulled in his opening statement was so klutzy I don't think it helped T at all. I'm sure it looked better when he imagined it.

I know you are interested in narcissism. Do you think T is a narcissist on steroids? Some things seem to me to fit: the absence of empathy (making it all about her when her husband was suffering), the extreme lack of self awareness (as shown by the pinky swear video), decomposition (like losing control when demanding immunity), extreme manipulation (faking a pregnancy to get out of living in Alaska), the constant gas lighting ("I didn't tell you that" after she just told Al that, G is always bleeding).

The problem is that, like Stephanie, I can't take anything T says at face value, including her childhood. But something happened there. It would be interesting to know the truth.

Oh heck we're gonna be in dark triad territory before it's all over. Anyway...the one expert who I'm listening to now says BPD, NPD, and feigning indicated by over reporting symptoms which is similar to the last one who did the competency eval, which was actually the third one if If I recall correctly but don't hold me to it. It's becoming a blur.

I'm not done yet. Moving on to insanity. The expert and myself.
