I am inclined to think it takes three years of Mormon indoctrination to render a person unable to understand the Nicene creed.
And it is effective.

Also Google crosses.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 9:39 pmAs a famous fallen angel once said, “You can buy anything in this world with money,” or something like that.Gadianton wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 9:35 pmAccording to the article Drumdude cited, it was Google, not Evangelicals, using Moroni as a symbol instead of a cross for Mormon chapels. It was likely unreflecting given that Mormons for generations defined themselves against the cross, and put the angel Moroni on temples and the cover of the Blue Book of Mormons. There doesn't appear to have been any challenge to rectify the marketing problem. Church leaders paid Sylvester McMonkey McBean 50$ and the cross-on machine whirled up. All good.
something like .003 of a percent of Evangelicals handle snakes. Closer to zero think music in church is a sin. There are groups which having singing only without instruments but that is music.
Perhaps the solution is to split the Trump fanatics into more flavors of crazy so at least they aren’t one large voting block. Make them disagree about issues enough to fragment within.huckelberry wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:19 pmsomething like .003 of a percent of Evangelicals handle snakes. I wish those percentages applied to fanatic Trump support. Of counse they do not. Apostasy? perhaps illness.
I think you have a hopeful point there drumdude. There is plenty of potential differences if the intoxication of Trump fades into the past.drumdude wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:27 pmPerhaps the solution is to split the Trump fanatics into more flavors of crazy so at least they aren’t one large voting block. I think that’s pretty inevitable once Trump is no longer alive.
I can agree with you that Mormon indoctrination makes Classical Trinitarianism seem absurd. I do not agree that without Mormon indoctrination it is simple to grasp.huckelberry wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 10:31 pmI am inclined to think it takes three years of Mormon indoctrination to render a person unable to understand the Nicene creed.

To be fair the Catholic Church views it as a mystery, something which cannot be fully understood. And something to which natural reasoning does not fully apply.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:32 pmI can agree with you that Mormon indoctrination makes Classical Trinitarianism seem absurd. Absurd and difficult are not the same thing.
I know, but if you read up on the history of Christian theology and its relationship with Greek philosophy, then it looks a lot less arbitrary and impenetrable. Is it difficult yes? Is it completely understandable? No. Not for me, anyway. But it is not the caricature that is often made of it either, and I include LDS anti-Trinidadian propaganda among the bad misrepresentations.
Absolutely. It's really pathetic to see the strawman that LDS create to attack Trinitarianism. I thought a lot of that nastiness was done with after the Bible bashing boom of the 70s and 80s, but Boylan is bringing it back again.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:59 pmI know, but if you read up on the history of Christian theology and its relationship with Greek philosophy, then it looks a lot less arbitrary and impenetrable.
