At the first meeting I was handed a clipboard with a bunch of petitions and asked to sign. I said okay, give me a minute to read through them. The person said, "oh no, you don't have to do that--they are all OUR petitions. Just sign and pass the clipboard along so we can quickly get our signatures.

I guess this is going way off topic. I was at the dog park a few years ago and this 20ish girl approaches me with a clipboard and wanted me to register to vote. I can't remember if there was an upsell to register as a Democrat (or how it helps to register people in general?). She told me we had to stop Donald Trump. I asked her what Trump had done that was so bad. She didn't have an answer, so I asked her to tell me one specific thing he's done that was bad. She could just say, "I don't know, just all of the bad things." So I declined.

Reminds me of one of my companions who on a door approach said the Book of Mormon is true, I have not read it yet, but the Spirit has testified to me it's true. I left, pulling him with me by his collar. And yes, I really DID make him sit down and read it all the way through with me for the next three weeks.

That makes no sense. One LDS apologist has been mostly non-anonymous, therefore all LDS apologists are not hypocrites for being anonymous.

That's not even a complete thought, let alone an accurate reflection of anyone's argument.

Correction: not “one LDS apologist” the chief LDS apologist, the primary apologist talked about on this board, the most prolific LDS apologist has used his real identity for 20 years.

That means tapir hasn’t been following things very closely.

Dr. Peterson’s vendetta continues:

the anonymous slanderer that I’ve termed “Everybody’s WC” is once again publicly lying about me online, something that apparently comes as naturally to him as breathing. Many of you are probably aware that there is considerable controversy swirling at the moment around Tim Ballard, a member of the Church who was, until recently, associated with Operation Underground Railroad. For two or three years a while back, my wife and I donated a small amount each year to Operation Underground Railroad — trying to fight child sex trafficking seems to us about as intrinsically and unambiguously noble a cause as could possibly be imagined — and I even mentioned OUR a few times on this blog as an organization that seemed worth supporting. Everybody’s WC never mentioned my support of OUR or my donations to combat child trafficking back then but, now that controversy has emerged, he is portraying me, quite falsely, as Tim Ballard’s chief public cheerleader and as vocally endorsing Tim Ballard’s books, which, in fact, I don’t own and have never read. I’ve never met Tim Ballard, either. The safest rule to follow with respect to Everybody’s WC, whenever he claims insider information about me or any organization with which I’m involved or with which I’m possibly involved, is to assume that he’s lying. His malevolent and unsleeping hatred of me has long since overwhelmed any sense of honesty on his part; of course, I’m not sure that there was ever really much of a contest between the two.

Okay, sure: kudos to Professor P. (and his wife, I guess, who is being dragged into this attack on Everybody Wang Chung for some strange reason?) for trying to support the end of child sex trafficking. But the problem is that he was duped—he (and his wife, I guess?) were totally and completely suckered by Tim Ballard. They flushed their money down the toilet by supporting a complete and total fraud.

I can’t help but laugh at his admission that he’s never read Ballard’s books. lol! So, what—he just throws money away at causes that are connected to Mormonism? Mormon = Automatically Good? How funny it is to know that he fits the cliché of Utah rubes who are susceptible to schemes like MLMs. Didn’t his education do him any good? And doesn’t this prove that he doesn’t do his research? I can’t count the number of times he’s dismissed somebody’s views because they didn’t “do their homework.” And yet here he is—full-blown dupe! And very publicly so! How much did his failure in this regard cost him, I wonder?

The problem, at the end of the day, is that he has failed to admit his mistake. That’s why Everybody Wang Chung’s post carries weight. DCP has never said, outright, that he was deceived, and/or that Ballard is a mountebank. In other words: he hasn’t really retracted his enthusiastic support for Ballard. He told *all* his readers, repeatedly, that Ballard was worth supporting. Do his readers understand now why that might not be a good idea?
