So that's what you're doing here? Quite the self-description.Valo wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 8:01 pmIf you're smart or maybe just following along, perhaps you are starting to see a theme here.
This man went to authority A to tell him what his life means. This man went to authority Y. This man pretends he doesn't care about meaning. While that man says, no, you'll find meaning right here with the authority of the many, etc. and so on.
But nobody really knows. Just because we've come to an agreement not to destroy one another doesn't mean we know. And while all of this is going on, most everyone is ignoring what they really want. Or pretending that what they really want is virtue and goodness and all the glory of God when in reality they want food, sex, and power.
That's the thing that most ignore or pretend doesn't exist. We have our social norms, you know. Gotta make sure I look my best. When I'm out here posting, I got my ego, my persona. "Hey, check it, I'm the cool cat! Yeah!" or whatever.
Underneath, however, unless you aren't human, maybe, then you have these needs, these wants, these desires. So when we were kids we wanted ice cream and were told if you do your chores you'll get ice cream. And so we did our chores, we followed the rules, and all of that, so we could get the price or not be destroyed. Then when we grow up, we get more sophisticated. Now instead of ice cream, we want "heaven"!And we play and pretend like we want holiness and goodness and virtue and to be honest! Oh we put on a good show every Sunday! Oh, I'm so sorry Lord for lusting after that woman, I know one day when I'm in heaven with you I won't do that, but hey I'd like to put my guilt and shame on you by taking this bread and water! Catch ya later Jesus, til next week!
So we have people here pretending they haven't just pawned off their sense of meaning to another supposed authority, or pretend they know, or pretending they don't care about meaning, all the while they have carefully constructed and most carefully each day they do things to maintain their fragile built on sand world view and meaning.

Didn't need to, your detailed self-description of why people post here was very clear.

Re: Numbers...
So you think I was giving a detailed description of why people post here?
You accused me of being false, a sock puppet.

I think you do need to ask so you can stop making assumptions.

Read Sam Harris’ book “The Moral Landscape: How Science can Determine Moral Values” for a rebuttal to this argument.Valo wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 8:01 pmIf you're smart or maybe just following along, perhaps you are starting to see a theme here.

First of all, what argument? Anyway, umm, read "The Bible" by The Father for a rebuttal to Sam Harris' book "The Moral Landscape: How Science can Determine Moral Values".

No, that's not it. --ValoGadianton wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 3:11 pmYou keep saying that to people, as if you're totally not making stuff up when you declare that God is revealing truth by numbers to sensitive people. You are just making stuff up

It's not surprising that you think of the number 27 when you think of that one friend of yours, as 27 is within the top numbers people will think of presumably at random. Numbers with 3 and 7 being the most popular.
More words worth borrowing like spy did here.
God has graciously given tangible items, besides mere numbers. Even orchestrating earthquakes with exquisite timing and manifesting multiple photo opportunities. 3113 recently blew my mind again, when it appeared vertically in poll results for a thread InTheKnow made on LDS-FF. He asked a question that causes many to stumble needlessly. The timing often is extraordinary and may even form amazing patterns as per march8miracle.org.
48 was like that for me, but me MakerBee post confirmed and magnified my thoughts about it being a a warning. God answered with a news photo numbered 384 where 38 represents the vast majority of the message. 38 has long signified Christ or phonetic equivalents thereof. Posting it here revealed why a gargoyle left a mark in the shape of a certain country at a specific time. Some posts cite "gargoyl", for those interested in discovering interesting details. Hopefully Some Achieveable Public Good will indeed prove achieveable.

Your rejoinder to Steuss "And just because you made a post saying "just because"", when his post was cogent and detailed, rather than respond to the details, is similar to telling someone they are just making up stuff rather than respond to the points.God's acts aren't random. They are timed. But it's easy to dismiss everything. Really easy to just go on surviving because the world will go one with or without me and has been twirling around the sun for millions of years. Who am I?
I've only been here a little and I've only said "You are making stuff up" one time. Why did you say I keep saying that?
You started seeing the number 27 last week.]You are talking like you know what you are saying. Do you know me? When did I start seeing the number 27?
Because last week was the person's birthday, and prior to their birthday, they were 26?Why did I not notice 27 before I met this person? Why 27?
I'm pretty average. Is there something wrong with that? Most people are bound to be average, aren't they? Those of us who are average must be careful not to so quickly believe those who claim prophetic gifts.I'm not average. Are you?
