There's a reason why Spy hasn't participated in this thread -- he has a decent science background and knows the Davidic Servant is so far out in left field there's no hope to redeem him.

I assume Spy figures that knowing about science is peripheral to the calling of the Davidic Servant. Nothing in the scriptures or Mormon prophecy says that the Davidic Servant will come up with the right model of the universe. I'm sure Spy has to tell the DS to stay in his lane all the time.

I didn’t say acceleration so to create a valid word tuple based on the letter O, like in the word sword. What’s said in a tuple may only serve the purpose of presenting words into the conversation. Maybe there’s a significant difference between “accelerant” and “acceleration”. Gravity causes acceleration, so accelerant may be the better choice, although most text books on the subject say it’s an acceleration, which is a harder word to visualize. Actually acceleration is an effect of gravity, which is best understood in mathematical terms. An interesting experiment would be to launch GPRSPs (Gravity Powered Rocket Shaped Projectiles) on the moon. :P

Actually I’m listening to your coincidental podcast about Q bits where a bit can be a one or a zero at the same time. Physics is not The Wicker Mans forté. He was shown something, but putting things into words isn’t always possible. He’s back on LDSFF discussing his Book of Mormon lands are in or near England revelation, which is something more easily textualized. His big coincidence with me was the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that shook my son and daughter on my son’s birthday. The Woman At The Well had a similar experience. That makes three miracles in the merry month of March.

Once when I was travelling with a friend, I wanted to know if the state of Oklahoma has constitutional carry gun laws, or what the gun laws were. The friend I was driving with, didn't know the answer so we continued to our destination.

We got to the post office we were traveling too and did our business. As we were leaving the post office and getting back in to our car, a stranger, without invitation, started talking to us about how he is carrying guns in his car because Oklahoma is a constitutional carry state!

Question answered. 8-)

I'm sorry if that word triggered painful memories. I had no idea.
Memories weren't triggered. Don't worry. Just a strange feeling. I'm sure you've mentioned this story before.

One of my brothers and I once built a trebuchet on a sandy beach using a middling-sized tree trunk as the throwing arm and a washtub full of rocks and wet sand as the weight. Our fulcrum was a steel crowbar—the longer and straight true crowbar rather than the shorter S-shaped wrecking bar—supported by tripods of logs lashed together. Our missile was an embarrassingly small rock for the size of the trebuchet. Once we got the thing working we had pretty decent range but no accuracy. We never managed to hit our target sandcastle even though we had observed the fall of shot before we built the sandcastle and placed it in the middle of our beaten zone.

With every shot the whole trebuchet violently shook. We took to burying its tripod supports in the sand, but after two or three shots they would always kick loose and we would have to straighten everything up and dig them back in again. In our quest for stability we ultimately resorted to driving big spikes into the ends of the tripod logs and piling big rocks on the spikes to keep them from jerking up out of the sand. Once we had the thing solidly rigid, we fired again—and the throwing arm broke. Turned out that kicking loose from the sand had been absorbing a lot of impact energy. We had improved our contraption to death.

We looked at each other and went in for supper. I've told the story as a metaphor for various things. I may already have told it here. It's one of my yarns.

“If you discover in life
Anything better than justice
Self-control
Truth & Courage

In this life
Anything better
Than a mind
Satisfied
That it succeeded
In enabling
You to act rationally
And satisfied to accept
What's beyond its control
If you discover in life
Anything better than justice

Don't let go”

Sometimes you really do need an actual sword, rather than a picture of one.

Actually after my first year of Electrical Engineering, my wish was to pursue a route similar to what “Physics Guy” did. But alas, my lass and I began to split up; during which time an ad for Varian Associates magically appeared in the classified section of the Salt Lake Tribune. It was my second strange experience, because my college buddy and I had just completed an adventure that included watching the movie True Stories.

Did you leave your course? It's interesting how things change. I planned to be a teacher. I didn't dream it but it was just a plan because I didn't know what to do. I was so overwhelmed with uni that I didn't think to do a physics masters. I should have but I had just got married. Exams were exhausting. Didn't have time to process. But I have some awesome work experience and my kids are ace. Need to get over this feeling that there isn't a future. My brain is stuck in the moment right now.

There is a future, and it needs you in it to make your unique and valuable contribution as a highly intelligent young woman. Please don't let yourself be swallowed up by the tasks of everyday life.

You have duties to yourself, not just to other people!
