As long as you don't drift into "there," I think you're good.

Not at all! I can't even remember why I started this-probably trying to understand something about phpBB--but I love the serendipitous outcome!
Here, there, everywhere....
Many thanks. : D
P.s. Coincidentally, George benson's version of that song is excellent.

The words are lovely, and the instrumental version starting at about 1:50 is perfect.

I agree. The fruit art looks HARD. But in 400 years, some of the crap that people post as art now will be amazing. We enjoy watching Bob Ross. Especially when the kids are restless. But I wouldn't call Bob Ross's art effort. He seems to glide through and somehow makes really nice art. But he's already becoming a legend.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:20 pmAhh, fruity impressionism.
At least that required both effort and skill.

I'm well aware of that, thank you. But it is "impressionistic" because the "dots" are pieces of fruit, but the whole doesn't become clear until one takes a pace or two backwards.

Shades,
Certainly the artist's effort and skill are not your only aesthetic criteria. I'm not critiquing your choices, I'm just curious.
What are some examples of art that's worthy of praise?
For instance, what's your reaction to Mondrian? I think he expends considerable effort and demonstrates remarkable skill.

Piet Mondrian, Composition in Red, Yellow, Blue, and Black (1921)

Anything good from the Renaissance masters. Also Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo, and Frank Frazetta.

Anyway, Impressionist painting wouldn't manifest for another three hundred years after Arcimboldo. Arcimboldo was one of your Renaissance masters.
As was Quentin Matsys:

But I'm having all the fun here, Shades. It's your turn to post what you think is some outstanding art.
