I agree. The fruit art looks HARD. But in 400 years, some of the crap that people post as art now will be amazing. We enjoy watching Bob Ross. Especially when the kids are restless. But I wouldn't call Bob Ross's art effort. He seems to glide through and somehow makes really nice art. But he's already becoming a legend.

Anyway, Impressionist painting wouldn't manifest for another three hundred years after Arcimboldo.

I'm well aware of that, thank you. But it is "impressionistic" because the "dots" are pieces of fruit, but the whole doesn't become clear until one takes a pace or two backwards.

What are some examples of art that's worthy of praise?

Oh, I think Beckmann's painting demonstrates significant effort and skill. He's one of my favorite painters.
