But try getting a cat scan or an MRI for a serious injury or illness at a walk-in clinic. And, why bother going to a walk-in clinic if you're going to end up at a hospital anyways?
MRIs were unaffordable for a long time. But now we have private places like Titan MRI. It's only a $100 to just go pay cash for an MRI. And the best part is that you don't have to wait six months and put your surgeon through hours of BS with the insurance company trying to get out of paying.
I took my late wife to a walk in when her headaches first started and they misdiagnosed her with a sinus infection, while a couple of weeks later when the headaches persisted, we went to the ER where the cat scan showed the tumor. There are times when the ER is the best place to go.
How much did that trip to the ER cost you?
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

ER visits are/were $50.00 under my insurance at the time.

Over the course of the 4 years it took her cancer to kill her, my wife had dozens of MRIs. We never were billed for any of them, and at the ER, she got one within a couple of hours of her arrival, along with a Cat Scan. They did the Cat scan first, saw the mass, then followed up with the MRI to get a better picture of the tumor. They immediately admitted her, and she had her first resection the next day, all made possible or accelerated by the ER visit.

About ten years ago I went to an ER with excruciating pain in my groin and got a MRI within a couple of hours which showed the kidney stones causing the pain. Yes, you can wait for an MRI for months when it's a non-life-threatening situation, but if you need one today, an ER is your best fastest bet.
