I would add that all the talk of “genocide Joe” is also stupid. Trump would be much worse in every conceivable way, including Palestine.
The fact that Trump used "Palestinian" as a slur in the debate, and again after, tells us about all we need to know.

Between that, and his "Black jobs" statement, it just reinforces just how much his racism is a core aspect of his identity, and informs his overall worldview.

I just don’t see how anyone could want Trump to be president. Even after having been president, he hasn’t had any experience that would suggest he will be good at it, or even passably competent. He wasn’t the first time around. He certainly won’t be now.

It’s wild to me how a guy who has 34 felonies, is an adjudicated rapist, led an insurrection, undermined our democratic and judicial systems, screwed a porn star, told tens of thousands of egregious lies, and was impeached isn’t the focus of everyone’s condemnation. Instead, Biden had an off night and people think he should resign.

Wtf.

It boggles my mind also that this guy with his record of felonies, rape, misogyny and all else that you mentioned above is not the focus of the vast majority of Americans' condemnation and disgust. Compared to Trump, Biden is incomparably more decent, more worthy of our respect and admiration and more honest than Trump. I think the time for Biden to step down and pass on the torch to a younger, healthier and more vigorous successor was before it was time to start campaigning for the next Presidential election. I fear that it may now be too late to build up the necessary name recognition and support for a Democrat successor to Biden in time for said successor to have a better chance than Biden of beating Trump.

. . . I have posted that I wanted DeSantis and Haley to run and one can be VP for four years and then switch. I agree with a Twitter/X post today to say the only way for Republicans to win is for Trump to drop out, and I thought that was cool because then DeSantis can run against Biden.
I don't understand why any fully rational person would prefer either DeSantis or Haley over any of the most viable Democrat candidates. DeSantis is as much a bigot and misogynist as Trump, and both of them want to sharply curtail women's reproductive and healthcare rights and oppose acknowledging the overwhelming scientific evidence of potentially disastrous climate change if we fail to sharply curtail our dependence on fossil fuels. I think either Haley or DeSantis would be nearly as disastrous as President as Trump himself.

I see that as as significant problem. Trumpism has become mainstream Republicanism as far as presidential candidates are concerned. Only Christie this time around openly and constantly opposed Trump in the primaries. Haley made a short stab at opposing him, but fell back into line with full throated approval. Both are so cowed by the MAGA base that I don't believe their policies would differ significantly from Trump's.

The idea of the New Confederate States or the Kingdom of Deseret holds infinite appeal to some. Ajax would endorse both.

They probably rationalize that the White House staff are paid sufficiently to put up with an endless barrage of temper tantrums.

Republicans and Democrats have different standards. Trump's criminality energizes Republicans.

It's been a full week since the first US Presidential Debate, and this controversy still hasn't abated. In the past week, the editorial boards of The New York Times and The Washington Post have both called for Biden to step back and let another Democrat be nominated through the convention. The Atlantic has had a half dozen pundits urging him to step aside and another smaller group saying that he has to stay and run. I don't subscribe to The Wall Street Journal, so I have no idea where they stand.

Biden has an interview tomorrow with George Stephanopoulos. I'll be interested to see how he presents.

Time's running out if there's going to be a Democratic alternative.
