Christian Right Upset About Trump Platform

Post by Kishkumen »

Maybe “whatever he says” is only acceptable when he happens to be saying what they want to hear.

The problem? Trump has backed away from pursuing a federal abortion ban. That’s good news in more ways than one. Good for those of us who don’t want to live in a particular Margaret Atwood novel, but also good for Christian conservatives to see that their messiah is not really committed to their cause and not interested in their objections.

The Trump platform was developed behind closed doors and people were neither given much time to examine it nor allowed to propose amendments:
The document — which was whittled down from 66 pages in 2016 to 16 pages this year — was developed behind closed doors and hastily presented to and approved by delegates in just a few hours Monday morning.
“They didn’t even give us a chance to read it before we voted on it,” Ruzicka said. She didn’t know exactly how long they had before voting — staff had taken her watch, phone and laptop — but it was “maybe a couple of hours” filled by speakers.

“I'm very frustrated. I think we were treated very poorly. We spent a lot of money to get here. We were supposed to have the opportunity to study it and read it. We didn't get even a chance to read it first,” Ruzicka said. “They gave it to us, but we kept waiting to go to our committee and then they didn't ever do committees.”
“The 2024 platform is a decent statement of campaign priorities, but not necessarily the enduring principles of a party,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. “Unfortunately, the process was unbecoming of constitutional conservatives which did not allow the document to be amended or improved.”
Someone JUST discovered that Trump is NOT a “constitutional conservative.”

Oops!!!

There are broadly two groups of Trump supporters who heavily push the Trump narrative, the Christian nationalists and fascists, and the junkyard dogs.

I watched a podcast from one of the many representatives of the latter with 3 mil + subscribers on Rumble over the weekend, and he must have repeated "Biden is an asshole" in his bad-guy pro-wrestler voice a couple hundred times before the halfway mark, which is where I jumped off, and by that time he managed to make a single point that wasn't very interesting and could have been condensed to thirty seconds. But the junkyard dogs aren't the ones with influence over Trump, they capitalize off Trump drama, but they hold no political influence to my knowledge. It's the Christian right with the power, and the junkyard dogs have no incentive to live in the world the Heritage foundation wishes to create. For some reason they don't get it, I think it's just living in the moment and fellow outrageous folks will flock together, without realizing the endgame has nothing for them.

Well, the Christian right was unable to get a federal abortion ban out of Trump this time. As powerful as they are. Hope to see the 16-page Trump platform soon. It may be a doozy or very boring. I want to see how open they are about the overhaul of the Executive Branch.

Thanks, honor! It is predictably incoherent and frightening. Pro-Hamas demonstrators to be deported, I see. Largest deportation in history! Yikes.

Trump has all of these ideas about education which will be tough to implement since he also says that he is returning education to the states.

So Trump is winning? The democrats want wide open borders and the largest mass illegal migration in history and the GOP platform advocates for closed borders and to deport illegals. Sounds like a very clear policy distinction. What seems to be the problem with that dileniation? Do you not want that clarity?

What on earth are you even talking about? Do you read before you start typing? Or do you just ask yourself what you imagine will be most provocative and irritating?

I read before I start typing. I also read what I type and I also continue to read after I type.

Trump does not want a federal abortion ban, that is not on the GOP thingamajig. Trump prevailed over some folks with a different opinion than his. Trump wants closed borders and he wants to deport people who break the law to get here. Looks like he won on that negotiation.

In contrast, Biden wants open borders, mass migration and to allow non-citizens to vote for him. Vote accordingly, orotund buddy.

Trump “won” when the GOP said, “whatever you say, boss.” I see no evidence of “negotiations.” The platform was concocted behind closed doors in a undemocratic process that frustrated even some of Trump’s biggest fans.

Bull pucky. Unadulterated bull pucky.
