Can I assume that something I said penetrated your protective armor? Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 4:06 pmYeah, you are pointless to talk to, ceeboo.

If you weren't so trapped by your political ideology, you might have a chance to begin to understand how enslaved your mind actually is.
Rather than suggesting that's it's pointless to talk to me, consider just how valuable it might actually be. To consider a perspective or thought that isn't one that affirms and supports what you are already convinced of, is actually beneficial - Even if you don't agree. For example, your mind might be opened to the possibility that Americans do not want this country to be like Russia. See what I mean?

Actually, Kishkumen didn't make it up in his head, he quoted Donald Trump who compared himself to Kim Jong Un. And Trump said it to troll, to get reactions such as this one, while allowing a chance that it's also sorta a little bit true maybe. Testing the waters for feedback -- should he back off or push it further? Right-wingers are split when Trump says things like this, the half who are voting against Liberals say to themselves, "that's just Trump being Trump, don't get worked up over it". The half voting for Trump are on a spectrum between, "ha, ha, ha, gotcha again libs!" and "Please, please take over and be our dictator!"ceeboo wrote:There is a reason that your baffled over Trump voters not seeing this. The reason is that what you are seeing is a mirage in your head. Other people (including Trump voters) are not in your head so how could they possibly see this optical illusion in your head?
North Korea? Good God! Talk about fearmongering.
My guess is that you fall somewhere on the spectrum I've provided for the pro-Trump group.

Re: Trump Wants You To Snap to Attention
My understanding of the situation is that the video was secretly captured while Trump was having an off-camera (so the thought) conversation with Steve Doocy. That being the case, I don't know that it should be considered trolling. I think it was, instead, candid.Gadianton wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 4:37 pmAnd Trump said it to troll, to get reactions such as this one, while allowing a chance that it's also sorta a little bit true maybe. I do agree with you that it is the kind of statement that straddles the line just enough for Trump supporters to deny it is troubling in the way ceeboo is.
My yardstick for thinking about these things is the events of Lupercalia in 44 BC. Julius Caesar appeared sitting in a golden chair on a dais and dressed in an extravagant costume. Mark Antony approached him and tried to give him a diadem (Hellenistic royal crown), stating that the People had voted Caesar this honor. Caesar refused the crown three times and then had it taken away to dedicate it to Jupiter on the Capitoline, saying that "Jupiter is our only king."
Historians have argued about this event countless times over the centuries. Some say that Caesar was testing the waters of the idea of his monarchy, and that when he saw the crowd was not excited about it, he had the crown taken away. If they had been enthusiastic, however, he would have accepted it and then assumed a new Roman monarchy. Others say that he staged the offering of the crown so he could refuse it (recusatio regni). In my book, I concluded that it hardly mattered one way or another, and that the event in itself was both supremely unwise and also bound to provoke a drastic response. Rome prided itself on throwing off the yoke of kings in 509 BC. Anyone who suggested that they might end the anti-monarchical tradition of nearly five centuries was inviting a murder plot against them.

I'm not suggesting that as a fact, I am merely asking if you recognize that many Americans see danger as well but said danger coming from a different source.

This is the mirror image of the insane crap that Republicans say, in my opinion. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:50 amWhat on earth makes you think he'll leave office in 4 years if he get's his way? What in the history of Trump's life could possibly lead you to believe he will willingly leave the office? The only other time he had the opportunity to leave gracefully, he kicked and whined like a baby that he'd been cheated.
What the “F” does he need to do before Trump sycophants wake the “F” up?
I know Trump fans can't possibly all be morons, but man, it's hard to find the evidence.
You're just assuming that Trump will attempt to subvert Democracy in the most brazen, idiotic way possible. When he has a million other options to enrich himself and advance his political goals that don't involve completely ignoring the Constitution. Note that for all his whinging about election fraud, he never barricaded himself in the office and refused to leave.
It goes back to my hypothesis that TDS makes Trump's critics say some really ridiculous things.

Chancellor Hitler will be a model of decorum. Remember how he quelled the extremes during the Night of the Long Knives and explained it well in the Blood Plurge speech. Those Trump critics are worrywarts!

Re: Trump Wants You To Snap to Attention
The interesting thing is that each of these items is tied to something Trump has actually said or done. In fact, in some instances there is solid evidence to suggest fire behind the smoke. This is not Qanonsense. No one is accusing Melania of engaging in child trafficking to mine kids for adrenochrome and feast on it to obtain immortality.
I could easily spend my time lining up the evidence pointing to real concern for each of these items, but it would do no good. It obviously is doing no good in this very thread. I showed how Trump wants his people to act like the subjects of Kim Jong Un in a candid private conversation caught on video, and it is waved away as though I dreamed this up or read it wrong.

Exactly. Expressing concern for any of the things on that list is nothing like the ignorance-based fear I've been talking about.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 12:00 pmThe interesting thing is that each of these items is tied to something Trump has actually said or done.
