If I was him I'd take the offer. He wins either way, right?
As VEEP he could still throw Big Macs against the wall, but he would be limited in making official belly squishes with Kim Jong Un, plus he would not have the nuclear launch codes. A person of Trump's ego could not abide that.

The major problem with the Trump as VP plan is all of the nutbars who might take out the president to get him back in the top spot.

That's probably the best possible reason to not have Trump as VP!

I would be very happy with Kelly as VP.
Kelly is definitely high on my list of acceptable candidates for VP. My favorite, however, is still Sheldon Whitehouse. It's too bad he's not in the running. I would rather see him as President, though, than as VP. Maybe in 2028 or 2032?

Who knows! A possibility for sure!

I like Whitehouse well enough but I wonder if he brings enough to the table as a representative from RI. I think one of the reasons you've seen Kelly and Shapiro jump to the top of the list is that they help a lot in critical battleground states. Whether we like it or not a big piece of VP selection is helping to round out your Pres candidate be it policy, background, demographic, or geographic.

Since the DNC looks like they're settling on a former prosecutor, and the RNC has settled on a rapist child predator with multiple felonies, does that mean thin blue line flags and the Punisher logo are woke?

Yes, I see what you mean. I have to admit that those are valid considerations. Even being the best and most qualified person for the job of President or Vice Present may not help much if the nominee's name recognition and influence doesn't extend much further than such a tiny state as Rhode Island, even though it is solid blue. I still think Whitehouse would be a fantastic president, if he could somehow win the position.

I hope so, but at my age, I might not live to see it, even if it happens. :( Besides that, Whitehouse himself will be 76 years old in '32, so it may not be a very realistic probability.

ETA: On the other hand, what am I worrying about? I plan to live forever, or die trying! ;)

I admit that I am not keen on 75+ year old candidates in the future. I think the risks are now too clear to gamble on it.
