My relative died with dementia in memory care and never said anything as stupid as Donald Trump says on a daily basis. Things were said that shouldn't be said, that the former person would have known better not to say, and lots of things that weren't true would be said but it was like, a family member came to see them and moved the book to that table but the family member didn't actually visit in the last week.physics guy wrote:It sounds like dementia. It could be dementia intersecting with his usual routine, to where he can't control the level of nonsense as well, but it isn't essentially associated with dementia. My former co-workers who were Trumpers from the beginning liked him exactly for the nonsense which was an effective trolling mechanism. He was the class clown who got a rise out of the teacher and pissed people off. That was the allure, and it still is, but the nonsense must be more extreme to continually attract attention. By extreme, I don't mean just threats to democracy, I mean rambling about dishwashers or whatever else.
There are legit non-dementia forces already hard at work in this direction, but I assume dementia would make it worse. It's just not the cause of his stupidity, which is practiced, and a sought for attribute by the bored people who became his base.
