More and more theatres are going exclusively to the recliner chairs as well. The era of going to a movie and seeing it with 300+ people have basically ended where I live.Fence Sitter wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 8:47 pm50 seat auditorium? The theatre owners must not have expected it to do very well if they put it in a theatre that size.

The Afore's shirt has more wrinkles than Louis Midgley. I think we all need to chip in and buy the Afore an iron.

That last photo of the Afore surprised me considerably. Surely he knew Oaks was coming, and he couldn't have put on a jacket and tie, at the very least?? Jeez. My SO dresses better than that to play golf.

The reviews are starting to roll in…
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/six_da ... ?type=userI was familiar with the history and came into the movie with a pro bias. The movie however was a disappointment. It's as if the director and writers couldn't decide which story to tell so they told too many. Within five minutes they covered twenty years of highlights from Brigham's life. This made for disjointed story telling. The maudlin acting particularly of the women who played Maryann and Emma diminished the strength of the women and the complexities of the times they lived in. While Emma acknowledged why there would be tensions in Missouri, the mob and Plant were depicted overly villainous.
I wanted to like this movie so bad. I really enjoyed the director, Mark Goodman's last film Witnesses and thought it would be as good. But the directing, acting and dialogue was simply not up to par. It felt like the director was being pulled into too many directions and was unable to put together a cohesive plot. People are going to be confused and frustrated watching this.
That last review makes a good point. If there’s to be an LDS Film industry pumping out faith promoting propaganda, then that would be best served by the Church doing it officially.A whole cottage industry has developed in the last 15 years where different groups and organizations will pump out LDS themed films over and over. LDS are burned out when it comes to watching these types of pseudo-historical and faith promoting films. My advice is to be leery of any film that is not LDS Church produced. This film was disappointing, but typical of so many other films in this genre by many different organizations that are not part of the LDS Church. Buyer beware.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Those are clearly bad-faith actors who have never even seen the film!!!
