Ceeboo's equivalencies
Ceeboo's false equivalencies continue to fall flat. No Democratic presidential nominee ever refused to concede defeat after all election litigation was exhausted. No Democratic presidential nominee ever whipped up a mob that attacked the Capitol. No Democratic president withheld disaster relief from a state to punish his political enemies. And no Democratic leader has implied defectors from the party should face a firing squad.

Manetho - This is this second time within a few days (perhaps there are others that I have not seen?) that you have injected my name into a thread that I am not even participating in.
While you need not honor my request (you get to post whatever you want on this board), I would ask that you stop doing this. In my opinion, it's extremely bad form at best and at worst, it's...........

Trumpism has been built on the threat of violence toward out-groups since it formed in 2015. It's very likely that it will incite political violence (probably sporadic, possibly more organized) if Trump loses. It's virtually guaranteed that there will be larger, state-sponsored violence if Trump wins, quite possibly on a scale the United States has not seen in our lifetimes.
That's what you're voting for. Own it.
And with that said, I will not interact with you or mention your name again.

While I share your concern, I am at least as concerned is Trump wins (And my opinion is that he will win)
While I wouldn't say it's guaranteed, I do think it is likely. It's virtually guaranteed that there will be larger, state-sponsored violence if Trump wins, quite possibly on a scale the United States has not seen in our lifetimes.
No, I am not voting for violence, I am voting for the candidate that I believe is the best option - a much better option in my view. That's what you're voting for. Own it.
Perhaps you misunderstood: I don't care if you mention my name or interact with me. I made a request that you stop injecting my name into threads that I am not participating in - I even told you that you need not honor my request. And with that said, I will not interact with you or mention your name again.
Having cleared that up: If you choose to not interact with me again - or never mention my name again - that's fine by me. No worries.

Tell me why you are singling out Ceeboo in a response to my OP, please. This thread isn't about fellow posters. It's about my thoughts regarding the impact of election rhetoric on the psychological and emotional well being on well...me. Perhaps others are seeing it and feeling it as well.Manetho wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 2:32 pmCeeboo's false equivalencies continue to fall flat. It has nothing to do with Ceeboo (false equivalencies or whatever) as an individual so please don't use it as an open door to take shots at him or anyone else on this board.
If you want to direct comments at Ceeboo, stop derailing this thread and feel free to start a thread of your own making and let it devolve into whatever you see fit. This clearly isn't the thread.

Trump says a lot of things, he just spouts words. He said lock her up a million times and recently said “it wouldn’t look good, so I didn’t do it.”
I think people have to stop taking what Trump says seriously. Any campaign promise is not a promise. Any threat is not a threat. He says things just because they sound fun to him in the moment.
His actions should be what people vote against. And there’s plenty there to vote against.

The problem is that ‘just saying things’ has a way of sometimes tipping others into bad actions. If that is what a candidate primarily relies upon in order to gain votes, then that candidate’s words become more than just ‘fun stuff’. They become catalysts for very bad outcomes.drumdude wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 4:33 pmTrump says a lot of things, he just spouts words. We even had one notable poster here not too long ago making excuses for calling in bomb threats to hospitals, based on untrue rumors regarding transgender care.
There isn’t a Trump rally you can find that doesn’t show him repeating an incredible list of grievances, racist or violent messaging, or straight-up lies. There is no way to rationalize picking someone displaying that behavior as one’s choice of President. He has actively rejected the most basic and arguably one of the most important tasks of his office in favor of peddling hate.

Agreed. Although hopefully people saw how little he shielded those supporters when they got thrown in jail.canpakes wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 5:10 pmThe problem is that ‘just saying things’ has a way of sometimes tipping others into bad actions. I’ll bet a few million Haitians and Puerto Ricans would appreciate it if your fellow MAGA -ts wouldn’t reference them out of the blue during Trump rallies and presidential debates.

Based on what?
Here's the part where Ceeboo runs to another thread to complain about being persecuted. Like ajax, he doesn't answer any questions that would qualify as engaging in discussion. He cannot defend supporting Trump without coming across as ignorant, uneducated, unChristian, unAmerican, and pretty much everything Trump's teams has been calling the majority of Americans who are on the left.
