It is not clear what letters we are hearing of or it is obvious they are letters by medical providers looking for insurance coverage.

I feel a lot of caution about this subject. I do not wish to trouble or disrespect people who have chosen to change gender. I do not understand their situation and hope that they can find a workable or good solution.

I also really hope people are not being pressured into something for somebody else profit or furtherance of a personal campaign. I hope people are not pressured into something by group enthusiasm or personal confusion.

I really hope caution and care can prevail as people can be hurt.

I think we as individuals should examine ourselves with regard to such things as careless comments we may make to others that could contribute to their development of body dysmorphia or gender dysmorphia. A word spoken at just the right time can change the trajectory of one’s life, both in a positive way, or a negative way.

I think of the patient I had a while back that stated to me that she posts on social media that she is an anti-vaxxer, while herself being fully vaccinated with all the CDC vaccine recommendations.

Forgive me, msnobody, but this is condescending and wrong. Reading comments on social media does not cause people to manifest anything like what you're calling 'gender dysmorphia.'

Like the woman who promotes anti-vaccination on social media, what people say in public does influence the behaviors and choices of others, and can influence how we view ourselves. Dysphoria would have been the correct term. Not sure if that was me or auto incorrect.

Why would you think that gender dysphoria (or dysmorphia) would be influenced by social media? Do you also believe that social media turns people gay? If so, what would you cite as evidence?

I can understand your point. I don't think it's an issue with people choosing to change gender, the issue is that there are people who do not wish to change gender who also have severe anxiety because of other reasons and won't receive the same help. In the UK I do believe there are things that will be covered for anxiety reasons. I know someone who got an eye lift on the NHS because of severe anxiety about her hooded eyelids. She also got compensation for a scar on her foot. Some people know how to work the system.

Sample letters for physicians that, seem to me, to guide the physician in proper wording to assist with approval for procedures or treatments. They look to me to also outline or mimic the criteria for approval. I think they would be helpful for the patient’s entire care team.

All I’m saying is that our life experiences can shape our world view, our thoughts about ourselves and others.
