I can't believe how stupid Americans are.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

I guess that didn't work out so well. Where do I direct my thank you card to George Clooney?

Anyone?

As a fun reminder of how much more everyone here is plugged in (regardless of political beliefs), apparently searches around "did Joe Biden drop out" have been spiking in the last couple of days. I'm guessing quite a few people didn't even know until they saw their ballot.

Man when they cut Medicare benefits so they can pay for a tax cut for Elon Musk I'm going to laugh so hard.

This is what the DNC doesn’t understand about the American people.

They really thought they could just choose a candidate without an open primary and America would go for it. Americans don’t like feeling like they have no choice. They didn’t like it with Hillary and they didn’t like it with Kamala. They don’t like being told it’s “her turn.” Or it’s “herstory not history.”

They would rather vote for Trump than be told who to vote for.

If the DNC doesn’t do some soul searching we will be suffering with extreme conservatives for a long time.

Yeah, it would seem that setting aside the candidate Democrats voted for in the primaries because George Clooney had a panic attack was not a great idea. Of course, Biden may well have still lost because he is obviously too old for the comfort of a lot of people, but there is not a lot you can do when people are so nuts that they would vote for Trump. I mean, regardless of what the Democrats did wrong, voting for Trump is damned nuts. I apologize to my friends who voted for Trump. Obviously, I don't think much of that particular decision you made.

The number of women who are not voting to protect their reproductive rights makes no sense to me.

That says to me that Americans are frighteningly uneducated.

One hope is Trump 2 is as incompetent at evil as the first time around. My folks don't rely on social security, my nephews and nieces are starting to have kids so banning all vaccines could be really bad, but we will see if that gets followed through. I guess we will see how the 10% tariffs play out and how the economy does. I don't know what is worse, if it is just meh with the economy we can keep on going down this path. Vance might be taking over at some point, though I'm sure he will pardon Trump, so the guy won't face any consequences beyond pretty much what he has. If the economy does get bad enough then Democrats will probably get enough votes to overcome any Republican obstacles.

A lot of people collude in their own repression. It is mysterious to me, but there you have it.
