Your are just making stuff up.
No.
People don’t only steal if they’re immigrants. Years ago I worked for a specialty grocer and about 90% of the people we caught shoplifting were older or senior Caucasians, trying to steal expensive but unnecessary items like bagged frozen shrimp, mixed nuts, smoked eel, even. These were not poor folks, let alone immigrants. In most cases we needed to team a few folks up (witness + enforcement) and wait until they exited the store before approaching them. Inevitably all of them were impeccably dressed and driving rather expensive cars like Mercs and Caddies. Why would that be?
Sometimes, all it takes to try one’s hand at shoplifting is a sense of entitlement, or the belief that you’ve been ‘wronged by the system’ and therefore are owed X or Y. And given that the recent election was a demonstration that there are plenty of Americans who are not immigrants but who loudly express both beliefs, then the shoplifting problem’s cause and suspect pool can be seen to come from a far wider range than you want to admit.
You are just trying to create a strawman, I guess.
No, I’m only addressing your perception that illegals are responsible for all shoplifting.
Drug addition, from drugs mainly coming over the southern border.
Is that why stores are locking up certain cold and allergy medicines? Because of drugs coming across the border? Or because Bobbie Lee and MarkWayne have a small lab back at the trailer park and they’re using them as ingredients?
Inflation, and immigration all lead to higher shoplifting rates, and a lack of moral character for sure. You can pretend it is not a problem, it is a choice....yours.
Wait. How does immigration and inflation lead to a lack of moral character?
Is this why you hire illegal folks? : D
Ask your local drug store manager why they are locking things up, and my guess is that he will say corporate (if it is a big box chain) ordered it because of revenue losses. If it is a mom and pops drugstore the answer is obvious, they are tired of being ripped off.
Yes, it makes sense that it’s corporate policy, but local stores may still have discretion. It’s telling, then, that stores all over America are doing this. Not just stores in ‘sanctuary cities’.
Shop lifting is an issue, a huge issue, and someone is paying for it....folks like you and I. Immigration is a huge issue, and whether you admit it or not we are also paying more because of it.
Sure. But if you think that eliminating the second issue will magically make the first one go away, then you’re going to be disappointed when it doesn’t work out that way.
