Tonight Kish and Backyard Professor celebrate the first annual Smithmas celebration! Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of Mormonism, was born on December 23rd in the year 1805. We think his birth deserves a celebration, and what better day than the anniversary of his birth to do it? Come for the fun, come for the geeking out on Joseph Smith and Mormonism. Come to contribute to the recognition of a new Restoration holiday!

I don’t know if you intend to start a separate thread today marking the occasion, but I will take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Smithmas, Reverend.

Will the two of you be signing smithmas carols? Reading fun smithmas stories by the fire? I will be tuning in for the festivities.

Countdown to the Smithmas celebration! Everyone should tune in at 6pm Pacific 9pm Eastern to join in the festivities. Was Joseph Smith the greatest since Jesus, well if the answer is yes, why not celebrate his greatness with Kish? Or if you just want an excuse to be a little merry on a boring Monday evening and don't care about Monday Night Football, or the teams playing tonight, this is a place for you.

I have a question for the crowd: Did Joseph Smith have a "revelation" about Jesus' birthday because he didn't want the competition? I have a birthday near Christmas and was upset as a child that it seemed my "day" was less than. Maybe the restoration guy wanted to get noticed more, in all humility of course?
