I'll take a look. I love the Joseph Smith UFO angle.

Dude, the Joseph Smith UFO angle is one of my favorite themes also! There is a lot to it, and our discussion here just touches the surface! Come and watch and enjoy, Kish was fabulous in this one also.
Will do my brother. I have some time tonight. It's only 8:30 here.

I'm watching your UFO episode now. Philo, I don't know if you've been approached with this but I believe you have something to offer academically. I don't know where, and perhaps Kish can guide you, but your interest and intellectual ability needs to be explored perhaps. I don't want you to go into unnecessary debt but, you have something to offer. Plus, you would be a favorite professor with your enthusiasm. I had a great aunt that went to med school in her late 50's and practiced until her 90's.

Philo is very academically talented. Unfortunately, academia has increasingly become a horrible career path. Job opportunities are scarce, colleges are closing, universities are shedding humanities programs and faculty, and our oligarchs are shoving faculty into the precariat. Get the degree, sure, but stay BYP. UP is no place to be.

I have a question for the crowd: Did Joseph Smith have a "revelation" about Jesus' birthday because he didn't want the competition? I have a birthday near Christmas and was upset as a child that it seemed my "day" was less than. Maybe the restoration guy wanted to get noticed more, in all humility of course?
That’s an interesting question, Exiled and one we need to take up next Smithmas!

Sorry, I had to catch it late.

The Smithmas Shanty was truly blessed! What a wonderful program full of delightful presenters such as Jasmine, Don, Kerry, and Kish. Maybe the scholars at Discuss Mormonism can shed light on the Mormon speculation that Joseph Smith was the Holy Ghost or perhaps Smac at the righteous board can parse the Holy Ghost out of the entire equation.

May the Spirit of Smithmas follow us throughout the New Year, from being wrapped in swaddling clothes in Sharon, Vermont on December 23rd, to Auld Lang Syne on December 22nd.

I am glad you like the Shanty. I want to find a way to upload it where it can get more love and the sound quality will be greatly improved. Thank you for watching it. BYP, Don, and Jasmine made a great Smithmas panel of discussants for sure! I can see you really have the Smithmas spirit!
