Great episode as always, Consig! I’ve been subscript your podcast for a long time and definitely left a 👍 “like” for this episode.

Merry Christmas!

I feel called to repost this from some time ago.

With my apologies to the Beatles:

It was four hundred years ago, I say,
The English language used to sound this way.
Grammar going in and out of style—
Syntactic usage change can take a while.
So let me introduce to you
The fact you’ve missed for all these years:
Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee!

We’re Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee,
We like to translate plates of gold.
Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee,
We hope you really like ‘Behold!’
Dr Skousen’s ghostly,
Dr Skousen’s ghostly,
Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee!
I was a teenager before it was cool.

Now I feel called to expand it a bit.

It's wonderful to translate,
Choice above all other thrills.
It's such a lovely seer stone,
We'd keep it in our hat with us,
Save that we have no hat.

We’re Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee.
We'd also translate plates of brass.
Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee:
So if such ever come to pass,
Just call us, the ghostly,
Even Skousen’s ghostly,
Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee!

Now we have to get back to the Book.
Brother Joseph's going to take a look.
Yes, the Prophet's going to read along,
And we hope he doesn't read it wrong.
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Moroni
And Dr Skousen’s ghostly committee.

Yea!

I suppose given the season of RFM's Ghost Committee Revisited podcast, I can surmise who is really on the committee: the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present and the ghost of Christmas future. Oh, I know--I just made Charles Dickens roll over in his grave and Royal Skousen roll over in bed (which might be quite a feat given he's 79 years old now--I'm kidding, I'm sure he's a spry 79 year old running to fetch a donut every morning for DCP).

In Early England where I lived
Dwelt some ghosts on a committee
And translated from dusk till dawn
In the service of the committee
The ghosts translated on the run
'Til it came to pass too many times
And they drank the finest paley ale
And churned-out stuff on Golden Plates.

It rhymed before I changed things up.
