Here we go! The new President has given us a roaring Inauguration Day speech that promises much, including a pony for almost everyone, with that list also topped with the required bucketful of pandering needed by so many fragile MAGA egos. Here’s the transcript:

It’s a shame that he felt the need to include the grievances, weird MAGA pandering, and threats to potential allies. Trump is not a man who knows how unite people for the right reason, or how to prompt their better angels.

The Constitution is meaningless to a man who manipulates the exaggerated grievances of others in order to further his own financial or political gain.

An even bigger shame is how many Americans still can't see through his glaringly obvious, pathological dishonesty and self-serving corruption and narcissism, and how great and immediate a danger he poses to democracy and many of the liberties that most Americans hold dear. He still seems hellbent on turning our nation into a doctrinaire theocracy with himself as the main object of our worship!

Well put! He hardly even tries to hide that he doesn't really give a damn about defending and upholding the Constitution whenever it conflicts with whatever he thinks will benefit himself or his agenda. I don't think he really believes in the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of speech unless it pertains to his freedom to lie outrageously and often with complete impunity and no serious fact checking. I don't think he will hesitate to attempt to censor, sue or even prosecute any individuals or media who try to expose, and fact check his innumerable, self-serving lies.

Trump obviously wants them to. Hopefully there are enough Republican Congress critters with enough spine and sense to limit his nefarious designs.

Perhaps the first of Trump’s official acts: pardon trespassers and rioters, but only if they support him politically.

President Trump indicated he granted full pardons to nearly all defendants involved in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. Earlier Monday, at a rally at Capital One Arena, Trump said he planned to sign pardons for “J6 hostages” tonight to “get them out.”

In a sane world, he would have been convicted and removed from office with his first impeachment for trying to blackmail Ukraine's President into fabricating dirt on Joe Biden, and certainly for his attempted insurrection in 2020. What Trump has done is worse than what Nixon would certainly have been impeached for, had he not decided to resign first. Why are there no longer enough Republicans with both enough integrity and backbone to oppose Trump's idiocy and corruption? Why are there insane billionaires for whom no amount of material wealth and power is enough to appease them and make them happy, no matter many people they have to hurt or impoverish to further increase it?
