Sad answers at Peterson Patheos

Post by Moksha »

Daniel Peterson Mod noel

thread-jacker noel: "I wonder if Royal Skousen will have to change his attitudes on whether the facsimiles should be retained in the Book of Abraham.. Fac 1 Is it a knife or a jar? Facsimile 2 Figure 3 looks like a false insertion Facsimile 3 What ever happened to the "slaves" ear?"

Peterson: I've been wondering lately whether hypothetical silicon-based bluebirds on the planets that orbit Proxima Centauri sing the same notes as Earth bluebirds sing, and also whether partially-domesticated orangutans would like hot chocolate if it weren't made too hot.

I can understand Dr. Peterson being concerned about partially domesticated orangutans because if they could be lured by hot chocolate they might be converted to aid flagging membership numbers. Members of SeN might be willing to help with their Temple work.

However, making a joke about the missing ear of Anubis makes Dr. Peterson sound like a flibbertigibbet. Much better to face Shulem in open debate and explain this long-standing deception by Joseph Smith and the Church.

Dan ought to brush up on his speculative biology, as bluebird-type creatures are very unlikely to be built with silicon.

I have to agree with Dan here. The book of Abraham facsimiles have as much to do with the book of Abraham text as bluebirds have to do with hot chocolate. It’s refreshing to see him finally admit that.

If the orangutans could be given a keyboard with a Ditto key, they could be contributing posters on SeN (maybe they could garner a few likes by the kind-hearted Sacred or Silly).
