Re: Caroline Kennedy's Warning about Her Cousin, RFKjr
Hound, I am a democrat who is moderate enough to have concern about extremists getting more attention than they should. I can understand concern about the border situation and think laws need clarifying and updating to make better solutions possible. But I frankly do not know what you are howling about. I cannot imagine supporting a RFK jr candidacy for anything. I would rather support John McCain imagined still alive or Romney.
I do not know how you understand yourself. You present yourself as if a fifth columnist in support of your hero Trump. You sound as if disappointed Trump did not remain a democrat in name so your support of him would sound bluer. Perhaps what I see is the success of conservative preaching which has turned progressive into a dirty word. You repeat it with conviction but show little concern for what it is. Or perhaps it is not worth the bother to explain what you are actually against. Vaccinations? supporting Ukraine?tolerating transsexual people? Gay marriage? birth control? public education? medicaid? making a conscious effort to include a variety of people in a work force?

Thanks, huckelberry! You expressed my concerns better than I did or could!huckelberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:09 pmHound, I am a democrat who is moderate enough to have concern about extremists getting more attention than they should. No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I greatly admire and appreciate your response, and, like huckleberry, you, as always, expressed these views more eloquently and knowledgably than I could!canpakes wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 9:58 pmI doubt that my response illustrates that.Hound of Heaven wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 8:55 pm
Your response illustrates a significant reason why Democrats will struggle to secure victories in 2026 and 2028.
If Fetterman’s priorities or ideological leanings move along the scale of political possibilities, then he should align with whatever party he believes will best serve that change. Like how Bernie usually caucuses with Democrats, right? Will your feelings about Fetterman change if he departs from the party? Because he is already nearly completely gone. He finds himself in a situation where, should he change parties, he would be welcomed with enthusiasm. He is situated in the most crucial state in America regarding presidential elections.
Changing an entire party’s platform to suit the whims of a single man is something that I’ve only seen Republicans do lately, with their recent path proclaiming that their platform is whatever Donald Trump wants.
You still haven’t been able to point to what it is within the current Democratic Party platform that you object to, and your opinion on the ignorance of opposing viewpoints is yours to own.But does it really matter, right? If someone disagrees with the progressive narrative, they must be ignorant!
What do you believe in?

It is hard for me to imagine anything more craven and mindlessly submissive than proclaiming that their platform is whatever Donald Trump wants!canpakes wrote:Changing an entire party’s platform to suit the whims of a single man is something that I’ve only seen Republicans do lately, with their recent path proclaiming that their platform is whatever Donald Trump wants.

If he was actually this concerned about RFK vis-a-vis Democratic Party policy, I’m left wondering how Hound would convince Bernie Sanders to vote in support for RFK, or how Hound feels Bernie should change what he believes in so that RFK feels more ‘welcomed’ by Democrats and other non-MAGA politicians.

It was pretty low effort. : D
“The Republican National Committee’s Platform Committee adopted former President Donald Trump’s platform, a document that leans into Trump’s preferred “America First” stances and steers away from traditional GOP social issues.”

Besides, they couldn’t let on that the real platform was Project 2025.

You may have a point there, yet they don't seem reluctant to openly publish it and boast of having authored it.

Sure, now they do. After the election. The deception was important.
What else could be expected from a politician and party leader who can’t go a day without telling weird lies?

It's one thing for Gabbard to have left the Democratic party. It's another thing when she has endorsed radicals such as Kari Lake. I remember Gabbard having endorsed Kari Lake for AZ Governor. Despite AZ being a conservative-leaning State, AZ voters rejected Lake for Governor and also rejected her for Senator.canpakes wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 6:58 pmWhy bother?Hound of Heaven wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:53 pmIf Democrats weren't so self-absorbed, they would have found a way to keep Tulsi Gabbard in the party.
At one time, I pitched Tulsi Gabbard as a future Presidential hopeful. That post was quite a few years back and long before she inserted herself into consideration for that job.
Since then, she left the Democratic Party because she believes, in part, that they are going to start World War 3, and that they represent the "powerful elite," over the people.

Which of RFK Jr's roadkill favorites would most likely appear in the HHS cafeteria?
