You are not interested in a objective conversation, that is apparent.
This is a thread about the 14th Amendment. I probably won’t keep following a Gish Gallop through a half-dozen other subjects if you’re headed that way.

I think that was the joke, Markk. You drive around in your truck making tenuous connections between your work areas and your political messaging. Of course walking through Chinatown wouldn't tell you anything about fentanyl, but that's only because the messaging on your side at this time isn't suggesting that the Chinese are a problem. If that were to ever change, we can only imagine the revelations you'd find in Chinatown.
Gad, the video I linked here was in context with homelessness and how it was out of control. It showed it it clearly. Folks on this forum at the time were ignorant of just how bad it was. If you believe that the issues there are tenuous, you are truly showing you haven't been paying attention since then. Maybe we should revisit that topic.

I guess you did not read what Dwight wrote, he asserted ..." Maybe if he did he would know that while fentanyl might cross the Mexican border to get to the US it mostly originates from China. ..."

So given that, please tell me how walking through Chinatown could show or tell someone that fentanyl originates from China? I am all ears how that might work. In comparison, blocks of mentally ill and clearly drug and alcohol addicted people, living on the streets in their filth is really quite apparent and tells a story in it's self.

Again you must live in a bubble. Have you ever driven through these areas of SoCa, or walked through Chinatown? Overall there are probably more Latinos walking through Chinatown than Chinese, in Old China Town for sure.... and again the Mexican restaurants are great in Chinatown; or you can try a French dip at Phillipees's, or a Little Jewels of New Orleans Po Boy, or just settle for Chinese dumpling's at Mama Lu's.....which are all pretty much next door to each other in Chinatown.

The "good news" is the Olympics are coming to LA, and the World Cup to So Fi stadium for some games, so they have been motivated to corral it a bit, and getting more drugs off the streets will no doubt help that, we will see. 1st hit on a quick google...

Did you say on this board a few years ago that you had some kind of drug phase before you became Christian?
I don't know, probably? Why? What would my going through a short "phase" 50 years ago have to do with this subject? Have you ever experimented with drugs?

You are the one that brought up fentanyl, not me. How long have you been posting on this forum? LoL, sure threads here never assimilate off topic. I get your allegiance to your liberal and woke tribe and views won't allow you to admit that Trump just might be doing some positive things, but don't make lame excuses like "going off topic" when you started it and do it all the time.

Uh huh. So you think folks of this forum weren't aware that homelessness is a problem until you showed up?

In italics: issues like homelessness or drug use aren't tenuous. That isn't coherent. I said the link between the problems you see with homelessness and drug use and your right-wing talking points of the day are tenuous. Not just on this particular thread, but in general, you've attributed urban blight in LA to illegal immigration. When you're called on it, your responses don't attempt to demonstrate the link. "what, you don't think homelessness is a problem?" "What, you don't think we should be concerned about fentanyl?"
So given that, please tell me how walking through Chinatown could show or tell someone that fentanyl originates from China? I am all ears how that might work.
Again, my impression was that Dwight's jab was sarcastic. I already explained that to you and you just -- I don't know. I have the same problem with my right-wing friend. Instead of trying to understand my response, you repeat your points. You say, ".....mentally ill and clearly drug and alcohol addicted, living on the streets is quite apparent and tells a story in itself." What is the story in itself? Have any of these recent threads been about human suffering in itself? You haven't been talking about such stories in themselves, Markk, you've been linking these stories to illegal immigration as the primary factor. I think the point, a sarcastic one, was that if you can discern illegal immigration as the main force behind LAs urban blight, then perhaps you could discover China's role in the mess by walking through Chinatown. Of course it's absurd, that's the point.
Why? What would my going through a short "phase" 50 years ago have to do with this subject? Have you ever experimented with drugs?
Never. I've never experimented with any drugs, not even pot. It doesn't have anything to do with the subject aside from, possibly, your style of argumentation. My right-wing friend is the poster child here. Drug use or something like a gambling --> born again Christian --> right-wing politics.

Yes, I was being flippant and since your self-proclaimed expertise is from being in neighborhoods and seeing it with your own eyes I thought a different neighborhood might help. There are experts that feel in the absence of USAID, Chinese belt and road initiatives will be able to gain greater footholds. The Chinese black market follows these projects. Fentanyl is part of that black market. The more spread it is the easier to work around border controls in the US.

Did you even read what I wrote? I said "Folks on this forum at the time were ignorant of just how bad it was." Which was true with those that I was going back and forth with, and maybe that is still the case. I never said that folks were not "aware that it was a problem."

With the influx of the "super opioids," like fentanyl and carfentanil, the streets are far worse in regard to the nature of who is homeless. Staggering amounts of money is being spent, without the hoped results.

Have you had a chance to drive the street of Los Angeles? There are between 70 and 100 K homeless there, they don't even know for sure. If I may suggest listen to one of Rogan's latest podcast with rick Caruso, a moderate democrat who ran for mayor and lost against Bass in the last election. It is very interesting. They touch on Homelessness right away so you do New Testament have to listen to the whole interview if you don't want to.

Illegal Immigration has added to urban blight, big time, and not just in LA, but the I.E., SD, and Imperial counties. Are you saying it hasn't. Again I would love to take you for a tour of So Cal.

As far as my responses? You don't even read what I write in context, or take and objective look at it and do just a little Homework on your own. In So Cal there are millions of illegal immigrants and many, at least a third live in poverty, and of those that don't a percentage are not to far above that. The average wage is under 20 dollars and hour (under 40k a year)....do you think these folks are living in their own homes and have pride of ownership? It is just laughable for anyone that wants to open their eyes. Again I welcome you to come down for a personal tour Gad.

There is obvious urban blight in so cal in these different counties. If you deny that the bubble you live in is worse that I thought. Given there are literally millions of illegal immigrants that live paycheck to paycheck making barley enough to get by, are you saying they are not contributing to the growing urban blight?

You are saying that I am not demonstrating a link? If you refuse to listen, and open your eyes and do an honest study you will never see the links.

To be clear do you really believe that illegal immigration is not contributing to urban blight in So Ca?
Again, my impression was that Dwight's jab was sarcastic. I already explained that to you and you just -- I don't know. I have the same problem with my right-wing friend. Dwight was clear. He apparently, I guess, has no idea what the issues are and did not even follow what I have been writing, if he did he would have known I wrote that chemicals used for fentanyl come from China, and are manufactured in Mexico, and then smuggled across the border, which is exactly what he was saying I was ignorant of. He like you just tow party talking points and live in bubbles.

I don't know if I said they were primary factors, and if I did, it would have been in the context of supply, certainly not in regard to demand in regard to drugs. In regard to urban blight, there are many primary factors....and Illegal immigration is certainly up there in So Ca, with Drugs and the decline of the Nuclear family, i.e. Fathers. Which I have also touched on. There has been a huge decline in Moral Values, that is huge in all this....people more and more in some of these communities just do not care.

LOL...Dwight was not talking about Urban blight...It was in regard to USAID cuts. Did you even read what he wrote and what post of mine he was opining to?
Never. I've never experimented with any drugs, not even pot. It doesn't have anything to do with the subject aside from, possibly, your style of argumentation. My right-wing friend is the poster child here. Drug use or something like a gambling --> born again Christian --> right-wing politics.
HuH...that makes zero sense. please elaborate on this one, it will be good.

Markk, I haven’t said that Trump can’t do ‘good things’. If you think otherwise, link to the post that supposedly claims this.

I have said that it remains to be seen if Trump will do some good things. Stuff like killing the 14th Amendment and mass deportations do nothing to resolve the issues you’ve been harping about, like homelessness and fentanyl abuse, or drug use in general.

As the saying goes, “even a blind squirrel can find a nut”. It remains to be seen if Trump is interested in solving any problems, or just interested in pressing buttons and trying to ‘trigger liberals’ by spending his ‘political capital’ on dog and pony shows.

And if you want to talk about USAID, there’s another thread already delving into that subject. Don’t act hurt that folks might not decide to discuss it in this thread.

Sure! Are you saying that first hand experience and living what I write, is somehow a weak argument? I believe my anecdotal and subjective experience can be objectively backed up, while your assertions fall. Where do you live, Dwight?

I doubt roads are going to affect this much. They fly it Mexico, I would guess....why would they drive it on roads in a different continent, with an ocean in between, when they can just fly it in, or enough chemicals in one 40 foot conex on a cargo ship to kill half the world?

I think you are just trying to force one talking point into another without thinking it through. How do you think the chemicals to make fentanyl coming from China, are getting to the cartels?

Again, you continue with your problematic way of argumentation. I don't believe you when you said folks on this thread were not aware how bad the homelessness problem is or how bad opioids are. Where did Canpakes say or strongly imply that opioids or homelessness isn't that big of a deal, or not big enough to be concerned about?

You're not going to vindicate Trump's mayhem-as-a-solution by pointing to how bad the drug problem is. I've watched plenty of right-wing exploit vids on YouTube about fentanyl and tranq. And yes, it is shocking. But none of this amounts to a bare argument for wasting billions more on deporting working families. It's one thing that billions have been spent on certain other programs and have failed. It's another thing to spend billions to fix a problem that also isn't going to work, but then directly ruins the lives of people who don't have anything to do with the problem. Fortunately for you, Markk, there is no God. If there were, then you'd deserve some time in hell yourself.

My assertions have as much proof as yours, actually mine have more since they aren't based on anecdotal evidence. You guess? So you don't know? Let me illuminate you. There might be a small amount that goes by plane, the vast majority is shipped. It is easier to move things by ship than plane, and you can move more at once. If you can move things around in how they are shipped so it isn't a straight line it sometimes becomes easier to get past checks. You are so easily misled that the name of the initiative of belts and roads has confused you. It is about infrastructure, and gaining a foothold in places. Guess what China will do things like ship supplies and materials for projects, so now there are people in ports who know how things work and might let a container or two slide by. That is how it is relevant.

You are right, I am injecting something else, same as you have injected something else in this discussion about the 14th amendment. I'm playing your game, do you not see it?
