Learn from history? Bah! What do a bunch of old-timey folks have to teach us?
Yes... in a big way.
Fox has been shining its Bizarro Ray on the news for so long, that folks do not know any better.
It is a tragedy that Rupert Murdock (the oligarchic owner and founder of the all too influential FOX network and other ultra-right media organizations) and others like him have managed to become so dominant and influential. If any fit the role of "Anti-Christ", it is he and/or others like him! The world would probably have been better off had he and others like him never been born or survived to adulthood! I wish his son, James, were still the likely designated successor to Rupert rather than his other, much more conservative son, Lachlan. It would likely have meant a turnaround from or at least a moderation for the better of FOX's current, hateful bigotry.
Surprising Fact
In 2020, Rupert Murdoch’s son James—who was once thought to be a potential successor—announced he was leaving the company because of “disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company’s news outlets and certain other strategic decisions.” James Murdoch was not as conservative as his brother Lachlan and his father, and donated more than $1 million to back then-candidate Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. Despite James Murdoch’s separation from the family business, he and three of his siblings will control a trust where the Murdoch family’s voting shares are held when the family patriarch dies, the Journal reported. The family drama over control of the media empire was said to have inspired the HBO hit Succession.
I hope James will still manage to be a beneficially moderating influence on FOX when Rupert finally, deservedly dies!
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

People are stupid to watch Fox in the first place. You can only blame Fox so much. It's seemed pretty clear to me for many years that Fox was not a news provider. You have to be pretty stupid to think it is.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

At first, I took them at their word that they just presented the facts, and let the viewers decide. It didn't take long, though, for it to become clear to me that they had become (or were from the start) a propaganda mill dedicated to disseminating the most extreme right-wing conservative views and conspiracy theories. They serve the same role for the Republican party that Pravda serves for the Russian government and its oligarchs.

Did it not recently identify itself as an entertainment company?

Indeed, they did and previously won a lawsuit against them for defamation by arguing that as such, no reasonable people should ever take their truth claims seriously, thus, in effect, both admitting that they are liars and insultingly implying that all the millions of those who do take them seriously are not reasonable people.

It stretches credulity to believe Fox thinks of and promotes itself as an entertainment company. If they were honest (at all) they would remove the word "news" from the name of the damned channel.
Fox calling themselves "the news" is like a car salesman promoting himself as honest. They have to repeat it because nobody will believe them otherwise. Hell, they probably repeat it to convince themselves, like the purpose of fast and testimony meeting.

Good analogy!
