The Nazi influence is what is driving Christian Nationalist, Evangelical, and Mormon support.

I would have (and did) say stuff like this in 2016. I know exactly what you're saying.
Here's the thing: America decided for us they were going to play into his plan. Nothing I can do about it. And if I measure the serenity between paying attention impotently and ignoring it to the best of my ability (which, I admit, is poor), focusing my attention elsewhere always wins.
Besides, I don't have to hear another single thing to know without a doubt he's an incompetent piece of crap, so if the part I can play is to inform others of this fact, I'm already armed. I don't need to know anything else to make that case.

I was talking with friends the other night and I said the only thing that gives me hope is that Americans, being spoiled, fat, and entitled, will never stand for the worst of Trump's impulses.
Your comment, however, makes me less certain. It's a great point.

You're right; Trump does have an abnormally large head which is apparently empty. That is quite a gulf of America.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 11:25 pmThe only (cognitive) Gulf of America is sitting behind the Resolute Desk.

I've noticed that too. I suspect they had a hard enough time defending their vote before the election. Given the quick fuckups Trump's already made, they likely don't have the mental energy to defend themselves any more.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:00 amBecause they are also utterly mendacious, and/or corrupt, and/or incompetent, and/or abysmally ignorant, and/or incompetent. How can his supporters still fail to see how utterly mendacious, corrupt, incompetent, abysmally ignorant and incompetent he really is? It is mind boggling! It is as stupid as insisting it is midnight while staring directly at the sun at high noon on a cloudless, midsummer day!
Where are the likes of ceeboo now? He’s gone strangely silent, along with all the other idiots that voted for the orange money grubber in chief.
Of course, I'm giving them more benefit of the doubt than ever. The hypothesis above relies on them being thoughtful and reflective, and that's never been demonstrated here.

You're too modest! Whatever else you or anyone else thinks about the quality of how you worded or edited that post, what you expressed was from the heart, admirable and true. You need not disparage yourself over what you expressed therein or how you said it.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:27 amGunnar I hate to tell you that I didn't think out that post at all. I picked up the computer and cut loose. I'm not even close to joking. Looking back through my post I see where I made edits and in my haste, failed to reconstruct complete sentences! Thanks for your compliments but I honestly don't deserve it since I was only shooting from the hip the whole entire time.
I know...cognitive Gulf of America. It just came out of my head! I've got a lot of stuff stuffed up in there. Sometimes I let it out. It's like the release valve on a pressure cooker.![]()

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

One thing I am sure of is that they resent being clearly shown how mistaken or foolish are some of their most deeply held opinions. I suspect that they would rather risk remaining foolish than admit to having been foolish by acknowledging the clear evidence of their errors. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:43 pmI've noticed that too. As we know from our Mormon experience, many people find it difficult to extract themselves from a cult. There are social repercussions. There is acknowledging the sunk cost of their adoration. There is admitting to yourself that you were flat out wrong and the victim of a scam. All of these things are demotivating in the pursuit of truth.Gunnar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:11 pmOne thing I am sure of is that they resent being clearly shown how mistaken or foolish are some of their most deeply held opinions. And of course, Trump voters are terrible calculators. They have faulty brains. That's likely the biggest obstacle.
