Did they apologise for the systematic and nefarious complex scheming to avoid making appropriate financial disclosures for which they were found culpable and fined millions of dollars of widows' mites? Apologies for introducing a dose of common sense into this discussion, but among all the world leaders you could have chosen to criticize the reputation of the brethren for their silence on Trump's immigration policies, you select the one world leader who resides in a nation entirely encircled by walls. This country has a population that is 100% Catholic, meaning that no Jew, Muslim, or Christian can obtain citizenship there unless granted by Pope Francis.

If he aimed to set a positive example rather than criticize the US president, Pope Francis could welcome immigrants by opening the Vatican and accepting individuals from across the globe who seek stability and safety in their lives. Vatican City could readily accommodate 2,000 immigrants within its walls and provide for their needs, as the Catholic Church possesses substantial financial resources, wouldn't you agree?

What led you to select Pope Francis as a comparison for the brethren of the Mormon church regarding their response to Trump's immigration policies?

One final essential point for you to grasp. The brethren lack control over immigration policy, so their opinion carries little significance, doesn't it? However, Pope Francis, whom you have chosen to criticize the brethern, is the sovereign ruler of Vatican City and possesses ultimate legislative, executive, and judicial power over the affairs within the confines of the nation he resides in. This means that he has the sole authority to begin accepting immigrants as early as tomorrow if he chooses to do so. However, he opts to reside in a nation where the citizenship is entirely Catholic.

Both men govern a nation, yet only one permits immigration for those in need. Can you take a guess at which of these two men permits immigrants in need to enter the country they currently oversee?

The track record of common sense is suspect. Possibly because many of their itinerary teachers such as Brad Wilcox, Jared Halverson, AnnetteDennis (recently) make enormous blunders apparently unnoticed by themselves. The blind spots seems to be a feature of indoctrinated teaching within the Mormon paradigm. The top leaders realized this when Holland made his magnum opus with Sweeney. I think political statements become the third rail and they avoid them at all costs (except when they don't....See Bednar and his Covid religious freedom rant).

I've really been serious about avoiding politics here, and I don't want this to become yet another venue for arguing about MAGAism. (I value the dwindling number of places that can serve as a refuge from the hateful politicization of everything.)

But I'm genuinely alarmed about the damage that I see being done to the American constitutional order, to our decades-old alliances, to international friendships. I've always heard prophecies of the American Constitution "hanging by a thread," but I have to admit that I had not envisioned the angle from which the threat seems to be coming

I think the answer is pretty simple. If DCP was willing to keep his mouth shut for the money, so are the brethren.
