I have to admit that Dan’s blog is very helpful to keep me laughing and cheery throughout the day, if only for the gems like this.

He doesn’t realize that the new area 70’s are as (non)noteworthy as the board members of the local YMCA. Even to other Mormons.
Hey - wait a minute!

One of the current area 70s used to be a member of my young adult sunday school class. Let's have a little respect here!
Well shoot, someone get a Wikipedia entry on this guy stat! :D

“John Pack Lambert” wrote:I am just fed up with how I get treated online. Over at the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints blog spot I made some comments analyzing the backgrounds of some of the new area seventies. I was then mercilessly mocked and attacked for doing so.

I am fed up with how I get attacked. I am fed up with being mocked and attacked. I am fed up with what I do not being appreciated. I am down right angry.
I was curious about how, and how often, he was "mocked and attacked" and "not being appreciated," so I decided to look at the blog in question to see for myself.

HOLY COW is our friend John Pack Lambert a prolific contributor/spammer!! Temples, stakes, their corresponding square mileage, their adjacencies, the maiden names of their presidents' wives (NOT an exaggeration), etc. must be his full-time career, side-gig, AND hobby. But as for the attacks, etc., let's examine both them and the context therebehind (to coin a word). Here is what he writes under the entry titled Two New Branches Created in the Central African Republic (CAR); First Young Full-time Missionaries to be Assigned to the CAR. You'll immediately see how incredibly relevant it is to the topic at hand (all misspellings in original):
John Pack Lambert wrote:Wait, Grand Junction Colorado West stake has 13 wards! Why have thry not split the stake. Yes I know there are some requirements that might be met, and I know even more that you have to decide how to split a stake, which can be complex.

I am reading "Carry On". It is a very good book. Although some involved are the same people who created Saints it is a very different book. It is a good style, and as Elder Martinez pointed out meant to be readable, but it is not a narrative history with fast paced stories.

Thry do tell some of Helga Mensius, but make a lot less of her refusing to join the Hitler Youth, and spent a lot more time on how her German language Beehive manual came to be. Which involves mentioned Sarah Richards Cannon who oversaw the translation of the manual as head of relief society and other programs in the Swiss-German mission, which she was leading with her husband Hugh. The interesting thing is the indexer did not realize that mention to Hugh Cannon was the same Hugh Cannon who 14 or so years before as stake president encouraged the women starting the first girls camp.

With Camilla Eyring we do learn about her peregrwnstions as a youth, get a discussion of the why's of her not marrying in the temple (Spencer was under draft orders, they do get sealed before Lavan was born). We get lots more reference to Sprncer, but the only passing References to her later are more about her college friend Elsie Talmage Brandley. Thry do say Elsie's dad was James E. Talmage, but they do not ever connect the dots that her mom was May Booth Talmage was mentioned before. Nor do they seem to feel it necessary to explain the Young Women General president in the 1960s Florence Smith Jacobsen was the nice of Lucy Grant Cannon who was young women general president from the late 1930s to late 1940s. Even though we get the reference to Flirence's mother (Lucy's sister) cooking the potatoes for an early Thanksgiving dinner in September (because Florence's 2 sons are being deployed because of the Berlin Wall Crisis) while Florence goes to meet with President McKY to get her call. Thry mainly tell us that Florence had come back from leading the Eastern States mission with her husband in 1958 and since then had been on the YWMIA general board. Thry did not even bother explaining the scope of the Eastern States mission (I know it had New York City, didn't have New England, but I am not sure if upstate New York was in it, and I am also not sure of Philadelphia was).
This garnered two mocking attacks:
Cannot read your posts any more, they are making my head hurt trying to figure out what you are tying to spell and convey. My apologies if you are offended, did not mean to. It's just reality.
And:
John, please create your own blog with your random thoughts of the day. Most of your posts are irrelevant to the purpose of this blog.
Whoa, SCATHING. On the same site, under the entry titled New Temple Predictions - March 2025 Edition, our friend John writes:
John Pack Lambert wrote:This weeks group of 16 new mission leaders had only four couples not from the US. 2 are from Mexico and 1 each from Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This comment also earned two mocking attacks:
Why is race and/or country of birth or origin so important that is has to be constantly brought up here? We are all children of the same God.
And:
John, can you let up on the constant posts, especially the ethnicity/countries where your stake presidents ex wifes step daughter three times removed is from? Its getting tiresome.
My gosh. Such abuse! No wonder he's angry; not even Lou Midgley himself could ever DREAM of being as insulting as these responders were. Poor Brother Lambert!

And those, my friends, are all the attacks I could find. Even so, I'm sure Brother Lambert will be seeking therapy soon to deal with those four PTSD-inducing attacks from the pit of Hell itself. I know I would immediately shrink and hide from such devastating onslaughts.

Since the Church recently asked members to speak up against racism at a local level, I wonder if that will pique their interest in what John has been babbling about for all these years in Sunday School and Priesthood meetings. I imagine they have been tuning him out, but now they will have a reason to listen.

You just gave me an idea. If this guy talks as often as he posts—and about the same things—then I simply MUST attend whatever gospel doctrine class he does. Does anyone know where he lives so I can go be a fly on the wall?

“Well first you wanna take a right out of here onto Main Street and then take that all the ways down past Walmart and then take a right onto the highway to take route 73 north for 3 miles and then you need to get into the left lane to merge onto 68 west. Don’t take 62 east because that will take you the opposite direction but I guess you could take 62 east and then switch over to the turnpike and take 87 west but that would be longer so just take 68 west. You’ll take that and you wanna take exit 17. Exit 17 is the old exit 19 but they renumbered it in 2016 but idk if they updated the sign so I think it still says 19 but it’s really exit 17. You wanna take a left off that exit and then you’re on Susie street. You wanna follow Susie street and that intersects with bay avenue but you don’t wanna take that because that will bring you to eddy street where we had an apartment back in 1963. So you go past that and then head west on creed road take all the way down to the water and then the church will be across the street there.” *

Speaking of John Pack Lambert's ramblings, I don't know what to say about this:
John Pack Lambert

.....There is a current attempt to delete Wikupedia's article on the Whitney Awards. The most recent editor to comment has advocated to keep while also using it as a chance to speak of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a disparaging way.

This has been a tough week. I may have mentioned I broke my ankle on Christmas Eve. I stopped by a gas station on my way home on Thursday. As I was hoping to get my scooter thing out of the back a man near me made a comment about me being about to fall. I told him to leave me alone. I was maybe too forceful in my tone.

He said he was going to shot me. He then shot my car. I called 911 afraid he might shot me again. Eventually the police came. The first think they did was ask me if I was there to buy narcotics. I am worn out by the way I grt treated as a white resident in Detroit. I am either treated as a criminal or an outsider. I am just fed up with living in Detroit. I get treated like dirt, get treated like a criminal all the time, and no one cares.

The police also took my car to process for evidence. On Friday I talked to the detective. They had me look at some pictures. I could noylt identify the shooter

I am still waiting to get my car back.

It has been a really frustrating week. I miss being able to go to the temple but with my broken ankle I do not feel up to going.

There is a Native American reservation in Minnesota that has seen similar situations. Minnesota just passed a law that would make it harder to remove African-American children from abusive homes. This is a really bad policy.

My wife has multiple times tried to get CPS involved with situations with my grandchildren. Even when the mother left a 5-year-old, a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old home alone CPS would not intervene. Thry also did not take her fear of the constant flow of men who come to my daughters house to buy her services in prostitution. My wife knows this is an unsafe situation and becoming much more unsafe as my granddaughters grow older. I can see at some level why CPS does not intervene on the case, but the legacy of abuse is strong. My step daughter is largely so messed up because she was sexually abused at about age 10 by her grandmother's live-in boyfriend when she was 10. My wife was sexually abused by both her aunt and uncle about that age.

I occasionally feel slightly uneasy about criticism targeting Mormons who are clearly on the autism spectrum as John Pack Lambert and Robert Boylan obviously are. But then I read them post something unashamedly misogynistic or homophobic and those concerns quickly vanish.

I haven't read any of Lambert's posts. It sounds as though they can be a bit rambling. From this last one, though, it sounds as though the poor guy must be under an awful lot of stress. Breaking a foot, getting your car shot and taken by the police, worrying about your grandchildren because your child is a sex worker. That's a lot. If posting details about mid-level LDS officials gives him some relief, then thank God for blog comments. Let him post. It doesn't hurt anyone. No-one has to read if they don't want to read. It might be nice, however, under the circumstances, if people would politely engage with him a bit, maybe ask him a question or thank him for the information.

After Dr. Peterson said he was sorry, John went on a disjointed rant. SeN could help him by urging him into counseling. Not sure that LDS counselors have much to offer besides praying together on some subject.

He refused to read, refused to learn, refused to engage. He simply reiterated his atheistic position, slogan-style, over and over and over again.

The repetition simply grew too wearisome to be endured, and he seemed, frankly, to be sneering more than he once had. I had had enough.

He's commented a couple of times in the interim but has now posted three comments since late last night. He seems eager to return.

After months of absence, gemli has attempted to treat us to a reiteration of his creed.

How much effort should I expend to try to allow gemli to comment here again?
With any luck? Zero.
