Now this damn tariff crap is bleeding over into my safe space, my crafting safe space on youtube. I already received an email from the paper company where I order clear bags for packaging craft items for sale. The Clear Bags company spelled it all out about how and why their prices will be raised this year. I get it. My freaking cat gets it.

A youtube channel that I follow also sells craft items that I use in my teeny tiny crafting business. Metal cutting dies and a few other items. The channel uploaded a video last night in the wee hours saying how, for example, if a product is 10 dollars the future price will be 9 dollars more. She used that as an example. None of their products are 10 dollars. The company is issuing their May release early apparently to save US customers a little something before the tariffs activate April 21st. The Chinese woman who runs the company and does the presentations is just adorable which is one of the draws to the channel itself if not the products and examples she creates to demonstrate how product can be used. She's lovely and so is the youtube space she creates.

I checked the video comments just now. I can NOT believe how STUPID Americans are. Some saying all of this is going to make trade more "fair" like international trade is some kind of kindergarten math equation to divvy up marbles on the playground between players.

Listen, I'm no genius, okay? I'm just a Jersey Girl who has knowledge and experience in a few areas and that's about it. I couldn't articulate the complexities of international trade if my life depended on it. But at least I know it's complex and not a situation where one to one correspondence holds any relevance.

Tariffs are going in place to protect the American economy and help the trade relations. Many people in foreign countries don’t make enough for a living wage. I suspect Trump will eventually order mass executions. Sycophants surround him, and he has no one in this immediate circle to tell him no. We must hope those carrying out the orders are more like the soldiers at the Berlin Wall than Tiananmen Square.
