https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna201942As the investigation widened Friday into what led to the gunfire, students who knew the accused gunman described him as a troubled young man who openly talked about having a weapon.
“He would joke about mass violence,” said Lucas Luzietti, who shared a national government class with Ikner when he was at Tallahassee State College. “And he did talk about how he used guns and had access to them.”
Luzietti said he once argued with Ikner over the 2020 election and said that their classmates would exchange looks over Ikner’s comments. That included Ikner denying the results of the presidential election and sharing hateful comments about minorities, he added.
“He espoused the election denialism belief that Joe Biden was not the legitimate president, he said that Rosa Parks was in the wrong, he also talked about how Black people are ruining his neighborhood and Stonewell was bad for society,” Luzietti said. “He would also talk about how multiculturalism is dangerous.”
Reid Seybold, a senior at FSU who said he first met Ikner at Tallahassee State, recalled Ikner being asked not to return to a political discussion club at his former college because of “white supremacist rhetoric and far-right rhetoric.”
The club’s current president, Riley Pusins, said Ikner often promoted white supremacist values, even though the group was nonpartisan and was about debate and political discourse. After the meetings, Ikner would make even worse remarks, Pusins said.

https://nypost.com/2025/04/19/us-news/g ... rd-people/The grandmother of alleged Florida State University gunman Phoenix Ikner reportedly accused his parents of influencing the campus shooting that left two dead and several others injured — ripping the couple as “rotten bastard people.”
Susan Eriksen blamed her grandson’s father and stepmother, Sheriff’s Deputy Jessica Ikner, for turning the “sweetest kid” into an alleged ruthless killer, who claimed the lives of two and wounded five others when he used his stepmom’s former service pistol to open fire on the Tallahassee campus Thursday afternoon.
“They taught him how to hunt, they’re bigoted people, they hated a lot of people,” the 79-year-old grandma told the DailyMail.com at her condo in the Florida capital Friday.

https://www.thetimes.com/us/news-today/ ... -bjztx9b87A political science student at Florida State University, he embraced racist, sexist, homophobic ideologies and was thrown out of a political debate club for white supremacist and far-right rhetoric, according to those who knew him.
“He was someone filled with hatred,” Jacob Jackson, who went to high school with Ikner, wrote on social media.
Aiden Leslie, who like Ikner is a political science major and enrolled in the same class as him on authoritarian regimes, told The Times the suspect “was vocal about being conservative, being right-wing and supporting Trump in a lot of our classroom discussions”.
Leslie, 20, added: “But in our classroom discussions I never saw him as an extremist. Friends from that class who followed his social media pages said that he would tout conspiracy theories, or posts talking about how trans people don’t exist, or gay people are trying to influence our children and turn the world gay. I know he’s very supportive of Christian nationalist groups.
“I felt bad because the class would sometimes giggle. But he would just say things that were completely unrelated to what we were discussing. Maybe that caused that frustration with him. I never gauged evil from him. He didn’t look like this evil person capable of doing this.”

Re: Ikner: Trump Christian Terrorist
Who is surprised that this racist, terrorist murderer turned out to be yet another avid Trump fan and a fanatical opponent of multiculturalism, diversity, equity and inclusion? I'm certainly not surprised! What I really find even more deeply disappointing, though, is that he is of Norwegian background, and both he and his mother hold dual Norwegian and American citizenship. This intensifies the heartbreak I feel over this event because, as most of you know, I am myself a Norwegian, having been born there. Few things could be more out of character than that for the vast majority of Norwegians!
As I am sitting here, I am enjoying a DEI ice cream sandwich (filled with Neapolitan ice cream, that is).

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

The Norwegian people are a wonderful lot. We are so happy Norway exists! And if the Norwegians want to send some people our way now and then, we won’t complain. What happens when they get here seems to be their risk. But some of us are working on making this a safer place for them.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 6:12 amWhat I really find even more deeply disappointing, though, is that he is of Norwegian background, and both he and his mother hold dual Norwegian and American citizenship. Re: Ikner: Trump Christian Terrorist
I think he should be labeled a radical MAGA terrorist, just like Islamic extremists wear such a label. People refuse to call these white Christian terrorists what they are because of how many similar people there are in this country who would be offended by this accurate label.

By your logic all conservative Norwegians are all bad neo Nazis given the most prolific modern mass murderer was Norwegian, in Norway, when Anders Breivik killed 8 people with a car bomb then tragically killed 69 people at a youth summer camp.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 6:12 amWho is surprised that this racist, terrorist murderer turned out to be yet another avid Trump fan and a fanatical opponent of multiculturalism, diversity, equity and inclusion? Re: Ikner: Trump Christian Terrorist
https://www.yahoo.com/news/records-show ... JrfIsGZr5wThe new records provided by the ADL show that the politics student adopted the terminology and imagery of white supremacists from Nazi Germany and the U.S.
Hill said a team of about 20 researchers at the anti-hate group combed through Ikner’s activity after he was named by police as the suspected shooter. The research director said the group’s investigators routinely analyze suspected mass shooters' online activities, aiming to uncover any extremist ideological leanings before online accounts are wiped.
Other troubling signs in the FSU case, according to the ADL, include internet searches of the terms “scientific racism” and “national confederate flag.” The ADL collected the screenshots showing the searches from Ikner's frequent livestreams.
Another account linked to Ikner used the symbol for Patriot Front, the leading White nationalist group in the U.S. that formed in the aftermath of the white supremacist rallies in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left a person dead, according to Hill.
The account bearing the group’s logo was named “Rebel,” records show. Hill said the group is the largest and most active White supremacist group in America today.
“It’s just concerning,” said Hill. “What we’re seeing – if in fact this individual has extremist views and it seems at the very least he was exposed to extremism – is the continued crossover between extremism and the glorification of violence that eventually leads to violence.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/suspected-Florida ... 42704.htmlAccording to the Florida native, Ikner touted right wing conspiracy theories and hateful ideas. Among them was a theory that President Joe Biden illegally came into office, “Rosa Parks was in the wrong” and Black people were ruining his neighborhood.

That's not at all what gunnar said.
