One way of alleviationg it is going out on a run, which I did yesterday. Also, I'm reading another book (more than one, one of the others I mentioned to BYP) called "Avenue of Spies". I've been reading it this morning. Hope to sidetrack my allergies by exercising again this afternoon. Gotta make a Costco run too. A daughter and grandson dropped in today. They are down the road visiting my wife's mom. I'm kinda staying away from folks nursing my allergy symptoms.

I can't count the number of times now...over time...that you have failed, abjectly, to answer questions thrown your way. Me thinks you may be a bot. What are you doing with YOUR time? I know I've already said this, but it looks like I might end this discussion (unless someone has something of substance to contribute), for my part, by repeating myself. Jacob Hansen 'nailed it' on this one. Thanks again, Wang, for posting the link. It confirmed my own intuitions and experience.

As you can see, he has covered most of the bases in regards to those things that can be troublesome to some people. If you are a person who is on a faith journey and trying to figure out whether or not the church and the gospel are for you, this is a good place to start. As you can see by reading through this thread there are those that would just as well throw a wet blanket statement at you and try to convince you to look the other way...there is nothing to see here. My recommendation AFTER listening to the presentation link given at the beginning of this thread:

Critics will try to rope you into their silos of information. Admittedly LDS apologists would like to have you spend your time in their silos of information. So it's up to you to do a full investigation ON YOUR OWN.

Remember the preachers at the time of Joseph Smith? Lo here and lo there. We have to follow our own heart and seek that which is praiseworthy and of good report. Along the way you will find that humans do dumb and/or stupid things...in and out of the church.

Just as with national politics we can get wrapped up in personalities rather than policies (doctrines). Are all policies (doctrines) of equal importance and value? Probably not. Find those doctrines that are at the core of the gospel as taught in the modern church. At this point in the ongoing restoration much of the dross and speculative thought has been burned/weeded out. The church offers God's word through prophets and the way to salvation and exaltation in the kingdom of God.

That's my belief anyway! Good luck in your own faith journey!

A rather shocking admission from Jacob Hansen. Jacob also mentions that about half of his extended family have left the church.

The fact that all of his online content hasn’t managed to persuade any of them to return to church speaks volumes. I know it's hard to believe, but maybe they just don't believe all of Jacob's brilliant apologetics? Maybe Jacob's siblings need to start reading all those Interpreter articles that come out every single Friday?

I’ve found Mormon Stories to be the exact opposite of a silo of information. Hundreds and hundreds of guests have given their honest opinion of Mormonism. Hundreds of scholars, historians, faithful Mormons, questioning Mormons, critics.

If one needs a place to start to untangle Mormonism, Mormon Stories is it.

Jacob Hansen is just another apologist talking head. Saying the same things that the rest of them say. It’s tired, old, and uninteresting.
