I wonder how common that might be among the majority of participants on this board? And more importantly, what led to that disinterest?

My experience with religion, which was the LDS church. For me, I would sum up how I felt right before I shook off its mental and life shackles as, "I give, you take. This life that I forsake. Been cheated of my youth. You turned this lie into truth."--lyrics not penned until a handful of years after I had shed Mormonism and had begun to enjoy life.
Poignant lyrics. Thank you for sharing.

Just to be clear, Marcus. I did not write those lyrics. I just appreciate them.

What are the important questions?
What do you think the answers to them should be?
In what way(s) are they relevant to the discussion?
You can choose to ignore my link/recommendation. I'm not going to nitpick with you and answer questions coming out the wazoo if you are unwilling to answer question after question I point your way.

It's not a one way street. ;)

MG
At 39 minutes Hitchens is presenting his usual worst possible interpretation of theism. So, what's the question?

Not much interested in the metaphysical.
About thirty-nine and a half minutes in and a bit thereafter an important question or two are asked.

I question whether Peter's brother ever seriously entertained these questions without a mocking tone of either indifference or haughty arrogance.

This should include the link that I was referring to that MG provided.

Get a life. Find something to get involved with that has real meaning.

I’m surprised Shades allows you to continually breach the “don’t link and run” protocol. Perhaps the board rules don’t apply to you? Maybe Shades will comment on why he allows you special licence to do what you want…maybe it’s part of a biography deal…
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

He is forever posting links without commenting on their content, explaining their relevance etc. If he does it and I report it, will you take any action on it? (I’ve now reported the post in this thread where MG’ly links and runs so we can see what happens…)

I can't speak for Shades. I do appreciate the fact that over the years he has defaulted to freedom of speech and hasn't fallen prey to cancel culture.

He even suffers your incessant derail culture of you trying to stop people discussing your "little precious" LDS church, warts and all.
