I disagree with the bolded part. There are three perceived benefits to Trump from his pardon of her:

1. The reward of political loyalty to Trump translating into immunity from one’s illegal actions (sends a signal for recruiting future allies).
2. MAGA will approve, because they value loyalty above behavior, especially where it conflicts with law (keeps voters close).
3. It oWnS tHe LiBtArDs (red meat for MAGA! Yum!)
