Trump's Birthday Parade

Post by Moksha »

Shetland ponies seem pretty lame compared to tanks, missiles, other military equipment, and goose-stepping soldiers at the Dictator's Birthday parade this Saturday.

Shetland ponies are a lot cuter than tanks.

I just wanted to put a little tidbit in here about something. Things may have changed since I dispatched and routed military vehicles transporting tanks through a city but here it is anyway. Of course, permits have to be pulled for a parade that goes without saying. Special permits must also be pulled to drive the semis pulling flatbeds/transporters carring tanks through the middle of a city like DC otherwise they'd be using the bypasses around the city. In my case the city in question was typically Atlanta, GA.

The more you know...

[/trivia] 8-)

ETA: Just thought to add this. I never heard of actual tanks rolling down actual paved roads in my previous experience. Always trucked on a transport vehicle. No idea at all what type of permit may have been required and I have no idea how much road repairs would cost...taxpayers.

Oh. And it's supposed to rain a good part of the day tomorrow out there. Ever been in an East Coast downpour?

Sorry...I had to.

Lying.

I need to correct an assumption I made about tanks tearing up the paved roads. The Boy just set me straight on that. Apparently the tanks are run on rubber cleats over paved roads.

;)

by the way, he's got the parade on. It's a really nice parade and while I'm always proud of our military, I think the optics suck.

We just got a taxpayer funded self-aggrandizement stunt that nobody in the world gave a crap about except one guy. One major asshole of a guy.

And apparently, very few people went to his pathetic "pretend I'm a big man" birthday party.

I'd actually feel sorry for pathetic Idiot and his pathetic supporters if they weren't so dangerous. They need help, not power.

You always make me smile, Schmo! Even when you're ranting. I smile because you're being blatantly real and I like that. 8-)

This that you said there: We just got a taxpayer funded self-aggrandizement stunt that nobody in the world gave a crap about except one guy.

I watched replay footage on various youtube channels of the parade...tanks, military marching and all. What really made me sad (among other things---I've got a list going over here) is that our military was out there in parade and I didn't see spectators along the roads even cheering for them. I wish people would have at least celebrated them. I don't think they enjoy parade and especially not in heavy uniforms in the East Coast heat. But of course, there they were following orders, having practiced and all...and no one really cheered for them.

I just wish people appreciated our military more than they seem to or even knew more about what they do*. I better stop before I go into a rant that won't quit. I'm practicing self restraint. How'm I doing? ;)

*About I dunno 5 years ago I was in Old Navy and asked if they give discounts with a military ID card. (I have one) Turns out I was there on the wrong day and they only give discounts one day a week. To which I went into a speech about how..."That's too bad this store only sees fit to give military discounts (I think it was 10%) one day a week in this military town when our military is on duty 24/7, they are subject to being called in in the middle of the night, don't get sick days, and when they're deployed their spouses don't know where they are going, worry about their safety, if there's a conflict they're glued to television reports all day long trying to see if they can pick their wife/husband out of a sea of uniforms, they're wearing 2 hats 24/7 that they're gone, rowing the boat alone, with no family around, with no breaks until they return, and they never know if they're coming back alive or dead".

Yep, I did that. I lived that stuff. 10% Pffft!

Trump has been discussing a military parade for himself for quite a few years. From now on, I hope he does not make it more frequent than an annual event. I imagine next time the crowds will be giving the Trump salute.
