Marcus thinks this is trolling. It's not. She is lying. Why is she doing this? Many possibilities? Or just one or two?MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 6:27 pmI think that this hymn doesn't naturally fit within the culture of Saints in what has been the traditional make up of the church in North America. Not that it couldn't. In fact, as I've said, I think it would be pretty cool of we could sing this hymn and get behind it and enjoy singing it. Amazing Grace has caught on even though it comes from a different 'religious culture' of early America. What I'm saying is that I think it is great that the hymnal is becoming more international and ecumenical in the songs that we now have the opportunity and sing.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 6:14 pmSo you are saying that hymn doesn’t suit your Utah ‘culture’(whatever that means), and that Mormon’s in Africa worship differently to Mormon’s in Utah? Really?
This particular hymn is originally a product/outgrowth of a culture that hasn't been 'the norm' within LDS culture in Utah. I think it will catch on.
You go into the typical Southern Baptist Church and you'll hear 'praise music', a different kind of worship that Latter-day Saints are not used to. Just as if you went into the same service at the Baptist church you may not hear some of the hymns that are included in the LDS hymnal.
Both Christian, both different. Remember the Arby's commercial from years back? Different is GOOD!
If you are a Christian, what types/kinds of music to you use/have in your worship services?
