Mosiah 24: 1 And it came to pass that Amulon did gain favor in the eyes of the king of the Lamanites; therefore, the king of the Lamanites granted unto him and his brethren that they should be appointed teachers over his people

4 And he appointed teachers of the brethren of Amulon in every land which was possessed by his people; and thus the language of Nephi began to be taught among all the people of the Lamanites.

5 And they were a people friendly one with another; nevertheless they knew not God; neither did the brethren of Amulon teach them anything concerning the Lord their God, neither the law of Moses; nor did they teach them the words of Abinadi;

6 But they taught them that they should keep their record, and that they might write one to another.

That's one instance describing events between Nephite zealots and a Lamanite king during the thousand year span of history.

Your point is?

7 And thus the Lamanites began to increase in riches, and began to trade one with another and wax great, and began to be a cunning and a wise people, as to the wisdom of the world, yea, a very cunning people, delighting in all manner of wickedness and plunder, except it were among their own brethren.

It appears that it is implied the Lamanites used the same system as the Nephites because of this cultural exchange that supposedly occurred.

During this period of the thousand years of history, the Lamanites experienced wealth and trade. There is NOTHING in those verses that implies that Lamanites relied solely upon the Nephite coinage system to complete trade transactions.

Some of the kings of the Lamanites were described as being very egotistic and generally resented or hated the Nephites. Recall that Lamanite tradition had uneasy feelings about how their first ancestors (Laman & Lemuel) were robbed by their brethren when dividing themselves on the land of their first inheritance. This set a tone for a thousand years of history accept for times of peace and unity which were far and few in between.

There is no reason to assume Lamanite kings with big egos wouldn't want to devise their own coinage system as well as their own emblems, banners, and symbols representing the nation state in which they ruled. Why would a Lamanite king want to maintain a treasury filled with Nephite symbols?

There is no way in hell a civilization as vast and long lived as the Lamanites wouldn't have had their own monetary system. The Book of Mormon fails to explain or provide any clues on how this was done other than making general statements about trade.

Ok mate, we can take this from a ten down to a five. You had a question, I found the scripture that probably gives the only possible attempt at an explanation we’re going to find. Is it explicit and satisfactory? Apparently not, but don’t take this as me trying to pull a veil over your eyes.

Chill! I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm just playing around. I'm having a little fun and hoping MG will fall for my little trap I've set.

It's cool!

Funny how it seems this forum is transforming from trolling DCP to trolling MG. Maybe MG is secretly DCP? New theory???

Opinions differ.

in my opinion, he's not the same person I met - about 10 years ago now. Neither am I, of course, but I don't believe that I've strayed far from how I treat others, especially those I disagree with.
